Demetrashvili Family winery, "marani" in Georgian language, was established at the beginning of XX century. Bottling of our organic wine "Damere" we started in 2020, as soon as we purchased all necessary equipment. By that time we have host thousands travelers from 47 countries for wine tasting, culinary classes and Georgian feast at our winery&vineyards. Generation by generation family vineyards at Alazany Valley are treated with full dedication. Perfect microclimate of the microzone in Kiziki, Kakheti Region of Georgia, gives us opportunity of the earliest quality grape harvest at the beginning of September. We are using certified in Europe supplies for organic agriculture, thus our wine and chacha does not contain any pesticides or other chemicals harmful for health, thus inside is a minimum quantity of sulfur needed for disinfection of bottles. We are carefully collecting selected grapes, tourists with pleasure participate in harvest festive. Then we press it using old wooden equipment called "satsnakheli", while listening to the songs of the world known Gamlet Gonashvili, directly to qvevri* - egg form clay vessels buried in the ground. Natural process of skin contact fermentation starts. Day and night we are mixing it using cheery tree stick for three weeks period. Afterwords qvevri are hermetically closed for maceration for at least for six month. Family winery is run by Zakro and Aleksandre Demetrashvili, father and son, the idea of branding wine and hosting guests from all over the world was initiated by the daughter-in-law Tamara Ninidze. Wine tasting usually performed by wife of Zakro, Eka Khmaladze. Our tannic wine is produced with our own hands, with love and respect to Georgian traditions.
*History of Georgian winemaking in qvevri counts 8000 years. In 2013, UNESCO added the traditional Georgian method of making wine in qvevri as Qvevri Wine to its list of worlds intangible cultural heritage.
