Texas faces an entire range of threats to its ever-increasing population of 2.3 thousand residents, who live throughout the state's over 7000 Miles of rural and urban communities, along 367 miles of coastline, and 1,254 miles of international border with Mexico. Texas possesses a substantial amount of the nation's critical infrastructure and key resources, and it has over 800 miles of roadways and over 6,200 miles in unincorporated areas of Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety provides quality, professional services to the community of Texas. Texas issued DPS with essential public safety capabilities and assisted other Law Enforcement Agencies when needed.

The Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas, commonly known as the Texas Department of public safety  was founded in 1929  to help the chase of Bonnie and Clyde    Before then only state agency of law enforcement was the Texas Rangers Founded in 1823 which was the original lawmen for Texas.
