If you want a luxurious, warm soundstage with massive battery life and a build that feels like high-end furniture for your ears, choose DALI IO-12; if you need the absolute highest technical resolution, a hybrid driver system for crystal-clear detail, and a detachable microphone for professional calls, choose Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear. This decision isn't about which is cheaper or more popular; it is entirely about how you prioritize your listening experience, especially when wearing glasses all day.
• DALI IO-12: Offers an incredibly warm, distortion-free sound signature using patented Soft Magnetic Compound drivers, wrapped in real leather and square ear pads designed for long sessions, but lacks multi-point connectivity and has a fixed boom mic.
• Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear: Delivers audiophile-grade clarity with a unique hybrid dynamic-planar driver setup and supports LDAC for high-res streaming, featuring a lightweight aluminum frame and user-replaceable parts, though its ergonomic shape may require a break-in period for some users.
• Best for: The DALI IO-12 is the pick for listeners who value warmth and luxury materials over raw technical specs, while the Noble Fokus Apollo is for those demanding maximum fidelity and call versatility.
• Who should buy: Choose the DALI if you want headphones that feel premium and sound rich; choose the Noble if you are a tech enthusiast who needs the latest Bluetooth features and a detachable mic.
The DALI IO-12 is engineered for the listener who prioritizes emotional connection to music over technical measurements. At the heart of this design is the company's patented Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) magnet system, a technology originally developed for their high-end loudspeakers. This specific engineering choice drastically reduces eddy currents and hysteresis, resulting in a sound profile that is naturally clear and free from the uneven harmonic distortion often found in standard magnetic systems. If you are someone who listens to jazz, classical, or vocal-heavy tracks, this headphone delivers a sense of realism that makes every breath and drumbeat feel immediate and tangible.
Comfort is clearly a central pillar of the DALI IO-12 design, making it an exceptional choice for glasses wearers who need to wear headphones for hours without pressure points. The unit features oversized square ear pads made from soft materials and a headband upholstered in real leather. Unlike many competitors that use synthetic pleather, this genuine leather component adds a layer of durability and a distinctively luxurious feel against the skin. The square shape of the ear cups also provides ample internal volume, allowing them to accommodate larger ears and the arms of eyeglasses without pinching the temples.

Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear: Who It's For
The Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear is built for the discerning audiophile who refuses to compromise on detail retrieval. Its most defining feature is the pioneering hybrid driver system, combining a 40mm dynamic driver with a 14.5mm planar magnetic driver. This arrangement allows the headphones to cover the frequency spectrum with incredible precision; the dynamic driver handles the low frequencies with punch and impact, while the planar element ensures the highs are airy and detailed without sibilance. When paired with support for LDAC, aptX HD, and AAC codecs, this headphone becomes a powerhouse for high-resolution wireless listening, capable of reproducing subtle nuances that other units simply miss.
For professionals and power users, the Apollo offers a level of versatility that stands out in the current market. It features a 6-microphone system that includes a detachable boom mic, giving you the option to position a dedicated microphone close to your mouth for crystal-clear voice recordings or meetings. The ability to swap out the boom mic or rely on the onboard mics gives you flexibility that fixed-headset designs lack. Additionally, the Noble FoKus app allows for deep customization, including an EQ and hearing test features that tailor the sound specifically to your ears. The construction uses a lightweight aluminum frame and Italian microfiber, creating a durable yet comfortable chassis that can withstand heavy daily use.
Battery life is another area where the Noble Apollo dominates the conversation. With up to 80 hours of playback without ANC and 60 hours with it engaged, you will rarely need to think about charging during a work week. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.3 (and noted as 5.4 in product details) with multi-point connectivity allows you to stay connected to both your laptop and phone simultaneously. However, the ergonomic, slightly smaller ear pad shape might not suit everyone immediately. While the memory foam is plush, the overall fit is tighter than the boxy DALI design, which could potentially create more friction for glasses wearers until they find the perfect angle.

• Best for call quality and flexibility → Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear, because of the detachable boom mic and advanced 6-mic array.

• Best for multi-device workflows → Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear, supporting seamless switching between two Bluetooth sources simultaneously.
• Best value for longevity → Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear, featuring user-replaceable earpads and a robust 2-year warranty compared to the DALI's 1-year coverage.
• Best for luxury aesthetics → DALI IO-12, with its dark chocolate finish and real leather accents that look more like furniture than electronics.
After weighing the specifications and understanding the different priorities of modern listeners, I would personally choose the Noble Fokus Apollo Over-Ear for my daily rotation. The combination of the hybrid driver system and the detachable boom mic provides a versatility that the DALI IO-12 simply cannot match. While the DALI is undeniably beautiful and sounds fantastic, the ability to customize the sound via the app, the superior battery life, and the professional-grade call capabilities make the Noble a more practical tool for a modern lifestyle. That said, if you are strictly a home-listener who values pure relaxation and hates the feeling of clamping, the DALI remains a strong contender, particularly for those looking for headphones for glasses wearers that prioritize cushioned comfort over technical modularity. Ultimately, for me, the Noble wins because it adapts to my needs rather than forcing me to adapt to its limitations.
Are these the best foldable headphone for glasses wearers?
Neither model is explicitly described as foldable in the provided data sheets; however, the DALI IO-12 features a travel case and a design that accommodates larger frames well, while the Noble focuses on a lightweight aluminum build that minimizes pressure points for extended wear.
The DALI IO-12 requires 110 minutes to charge fully, whereas the Noble Fokus Apollo takes approximately 2 hours to reach capacity. Both models utilize USB-C for charging, ensuring compatibility with modern fast-charging bricks and cables.
Both units feature Active Noise Cancellation. The Noble Fokus Apollo specifies a hybrid ANC system with up to -35dB reduction, which is highly effective for blocking consistent background noise, while the DALI IO-12 offers standard active noise cancellation designed to silence distractions effectively.
