Skin In The Game
The Digital Age Learning/Global Writes
Empire State After School Game Design Program
In October 2017, Digital Age Learning/Global Writes was named as a lead CBO by the NYC Department of Education, Office of Community Schools to provide after school programming, funded through a New York State Office of Children and Family Services Empire State After-School Program grant, for five Bronx Elementary Schools:
Activities began in January 2018, and have included academic support, homework help, athletics, visual art, music, drama, STEM, and other school and family-selected offerings. The work shared on this website highlights the game design component of the program, Skin In The Game, which integrates literacy development, STREAM (Science Technology Reading Engineering Arts Math), and multi-media arts under the umbrella of game theory and design, using fiction and non-fiction texts, and original student stories as the narratives for games. The curriculum for this project was developed through a partnership between Digital Age Learning and Global Writes.
