2. Privacy at a Glance
✓ No account required ✓ No email collected ✓ No ads or ad networks ✓ Most data stays on-device ✓ No selling of personal data
Dainty is designed with privacy first. The vast majority of your data — journal entries, mood logs, focus sessions, sleep recordings, zen designs, breathing history — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and never leaves your phone.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Data Stored On-Device Only (Never Transmitted)
The following data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us:
Focus session history (duration, timestamps) – In-app statistics & streaks
Sleep session records (bedtime, wake time, sleep scores, detected events) – Sleep reports & trends
Sleep audio snippets (short recordings of detected events such as snoring or speech) – Stored locally for personal review; see Section 3.3 for details
Mood logs (emoji, optional note) – Mood tracking feature
Mind Dump journal entries – Private journaling
Zen design images – Zen gallery feature
Sound mixer preferences – Stored locally (UserDefaults)
Breathing pattern preferences – Stored locally (UserDefaults)
Grounding exercise progress – Stored locally
In-app language selection – Stored locally (UserDefaults)

Data shared: Sleep session start/end times and sleep quality metrics
Note: HealthKit data is governed by Apple's strict privacy policies and is never shared with third parties or used for advertising
Apple Photos (Optional)
Processes: Write-only access (with user permission)
Purpose: Saving zen designs to your photo library
Apple SoundAnalysis
Processes: Audio data from the device microphone (on-device processing only)
Purpose: Classifying sleep-related sounds (snoring, speech, coughing) during sleep tracking
Note: Audio is processed entirely on-device using Apple's built-in machine learning models. No audio data is transmitted to us or any third party
3.3 Microphone Usage & Sleep Audio Snippets
When you activate sleep tracking, Dainty requests access to your device's microphone. This is used to:
Detect and classify sleep-related sounds (snoring, speech, coughing, environmental noise) using Apple's on-device SoundAnalysis framework
Monitor ambient noise levels during sleep
Record short audio snippets (approximately 10 seconds) when a notable sleep event is detected
Important details about audio snippets:
Snippets are stored exclusively on your device in the app's local Documents directory
They are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with any server or third party
You can play back snippets within the app to review your sleep events
Snippets are deleted when you delete the associated sleep session or uninstall the app
You may deny microphone permission; sleep tracking will function in a limited simulation mode without sound detection
4. How We Use Your Information
We use data for:
Subscription management: RevenueCat verifies your Dainty Pro subscription status.
App functionality: On-device data powers focus statistics, sleep reports and audio playback, mood tracking, grounding exercises, and zen gallery.
Sleep analysis: Microphone audio is processed on-device to detect and classify sleep events. Short audio snippets are saved locally for your personal review.
Health integration: With your permission, sleep data may be written to or read from Apple HealthKit for a more complete health picture.
Personalization: Language and sound settings are stored locally.
Discount offers: The app tracks local session time (on-device only) to determine when to show limited-time offers.
Crash diagnostics: We rely only on Apple's built-in crash reporting via Xcode Organizer.
Live Activities: Focus and breathing sessions may display real-time progress on your Lock Screen using Apple's ActivityKit. This data is processed entirely on-device.
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs.
