Daily Flight Log is an easy-to-use flight recording app for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. It is particularly useful for operations involving multiple engine starts, take-offs and landings, including firefighting, tourism and general aviation. Large buttons make it simple to record activity throughout the day, while automatic totals reduce paperwork after flying.

The app records engine start, take-off, landing and engine shutdown times, calculating both engine and flight time. It also tracks starts, landings, start and stop fuel, fuel additions, passenger numbers and loads. A flight details section lets you enter pilot names, aircraft registration, the task and general notes. Aircraft registrations when entered are saved in a dropdown list and can be managed in settings.

Manual and automatic recording modes let you choose how take-offs and landings are logged. In manual mode, pressing the take-off or landing button saves the time and GPS location. This mode suits helicopter operations involving hovering, winching or longline work. Automatic mode records take-offs and landings using GPS speed, with a default take-off threshold of 5 knots that can be adjusted in settings. GPS continues operating while the device is locked, and alerts appear when automatic take-offs or landings are recorded.

Fuel management includes timestamped fuel additions and the ability to add or edit fuel entries within a flight log. A hot refuelling feature allows you to enter landing fuel, fuel added and the new take-off fuel while the engine remains running. Basic fuel-burn calculations based on engine time are included in exported reports.

Flight logs can be reviewed and corrected after the completed flight. Individual flights can be edited, deleted, added if missed or reordered using arrows. Fuel entries can also be edited or added. An engine cooldown countdown timer is configured in settingd. eg 60 or 120 seconds.

Records can be saved to cloud storage or emailed as both CSV and PDF files, either after each flight or at the end of the day. Reports include flight information, daily totals and recorded locations, with locations / coordinates included in the CSV. The PDF is formatted similarly to a company journey or flight log. File names and email subjects include the flight date and aircraft registration for easy tracking.

Email is configured in settings.

Logs remain available through phone restarts and can be saved or emailed, helping you maintain an ongoing log throughout the day. Saved logs are not deleted. Emailed logs are deleted when sent. Individual logs can be deleted.
