Daichi MORISHIGE Ph.D. Candidate (ABD) Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto, Japan)
Daichi MORISHIGE (DY-chi moh-ree-SHEE-gay) is a Ph.D. candidate (ABD) at the Graduate School of International Relations at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. I am also a part-time lecturer at Kyoto Sangyo University.
My main research areas focus on theories of international politics and international security.
My doctoral research explores the origins and evolution of U.S.-Japan military cooperationwith a focus on the role of rhetoric—particularly legitimation—in shaping how Japanese political actors publicly debated its purpose, utility, and ultimately social appropriateness at home, thereby enabling the United States and Japan to expand and sustain their bilateral military cooperation.
