We analyse regional differences in life satisfaction in Germany, including economic deprivation and spatial topologies of mobility on the level of municipalities, as well as air quality and green spaces on fine-grained grid cells within metropolises. Using FReDA data matched with geodata on a 1 km2 grid, we describe regional differences in the distributions of life satisfaction, as well as unadjusted and adjusted means, for the German working-age population in 2022.

We show first representative results on the life situation of Ukrainian school children in Germany about 2 years after their arrival. While more than half report good German skills, their school belonging is lower than that of students in Germany or the Ukraine or previous cohorts of refugees. Their intentions to stay are lower than those of their parents.

We present inequalities in early childcare take-up by family background, showing that disadvantaged families have larger excess demand for early childcare as well as more search difficulty. Moreover, we publish results of early childcare gaps by federal state here: https://www.bib.bund.de/kita-gaps (in German).
