Empowering youth today for the challenges of tomorrow
The DACY project, supported by the Erasmus+ program, is dedicated to providing young people with the tools and skills they need to adapt to the unavoidable challenges of climate change. In collaboration with partners from Hungary, Spain, and New Caledonia, we’re creating innovative learning spaces and training programs focused on physical, mental, and community-based adaptation. Together, we’re helping young people build resilience and forge sustainable, connected communities ready to face the future.
The DACY project equips young people with the tools to understand and respond to climate change. Through hands-on workshops, they learn how to grow their own food, manage resources, and adopt sustainable solutions to thrive in an ever-changing environment.
We help young people strengthen their mental and emotional resilience to better navigate climate-related challenges. Using simple methods like mindfulness, physical exercises, and relaxation techniques, DACY prepares youth to face tomorrow's uncertainties with confidence and calm.
DACY brings young people together to initiate community-based actions. Together, they learn to organize local projects, build support networks, and share resources. The goal is to foster resilient communities, ready to face crises while staying connected and united.
Jem Bendell is a British academic and consultant known for his work on climate change and sustainability. He is a professor at the University of Cumbria and founded the sustainability research program at the University of Cumbria. His book "Deep Adaptation: A Map for Navigating Climate Tragedy", published in 2018, addresses the need for a deep and systemic response to the climate crisis.
In this book, Bendell argues that, in the face of the devastating effects of climate change, it is essential to accept the reality of the impending ecological and social collapse. He advocates for a deep adaptation approach that includes resilience, relocalization, and the transformation of societal values. Bendell encourages individuals and communities to reconsider their priorities and prepare for major changes while fostering a sense of solidarity and empathy in the face of upcoming challenges. His work has sparked widespread debate on how we can respond to environmental crises with honesty and compassion.
