The latest iteration of Schiit's entry level desktop amplifier now comes with the pre-output that previously reserved for the $150 Uber version. While output power has increased compared to the previous generation, so has the standard gain of the amp. Low gain is now 2 (6db), high gain 7 (17db), selectable via rear switch.
Users who are looking to drive a wider variety of very sensitive and harder to drive headphones and (C)IEMs should opt for the FiiO K5 + FiiO E17K or one of their DAPs.
You want to buy your first and last headphone amplifier. Your ultra sensitive (C)IEMs you have their own amplifier.
