Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents,

Welcome! My name is Soukaina Sassi, and I have been blessed to teach at Daarul Uloom Islamic School for the past 18 years. I am honored and excited to be your child's Qur'an and Arabic teacher this school year.

I look forward to partnering with you to help your child grow academically, spiritually, and personally. With your continued support and encouragement, Insha'Allah, this will be a successful and rewarding year filled with meaningful learning and a love for the Qur'an and the Arabic language.

Our Learning Goals

📖 Qur'an

Students will strive to:

Memorize the assigned surahs with proper pronunciation and tajweed.

Develop confidence and fluency in Qur'an recitation.

Understand the meanings of the verses.

Reflect on the lessons and guidance of the Qur'an through tadabbur.

📚 Arabic Language

Students will:

Build a strong foundation in the Arabic language.

Develop reading and comprehension skills.

Communicate using complete Arabic sentences with increasing confidence.

🌿 Qur'anic Language

Students will:

• Learn essential Arabic vocabulary and grammar found in the Qur'an.

• Develop the skills needed to better understand the meanings of the Qur'an.

• Strengthen their connection to Allah's words through language.

Class Focus

Throughout the year, students will work on:

• Qur'an recitation: Memorization of assigned surahs

• Tajweed

• Vocabulary and comprehension

• Tadabbur (reflection)

• Qur'anic grammar

Weekly Expectations:

Students should expect:

• 1 Memorization Test

• 1 Memorization Quiz

• 1 Quizlet Homework or Quiz Assignment

Daily Qur'an reading at home is highly encouraged. Even 10–15 minutes of consistent practice each day helps improve fluency, strengthens memorization, and deepens understanding.

Grading Policy

• Summative Assessments (Tests, Projects, Major Assignments)

60%

• Formative Assessments (Quizzes) :20%

• Classwork & Participation:  10%

• Homework: 10%
