John Waldie
John Waldie and his family relocated to the picturesque Mount Washington Valley in the summer of 2011, leaving behind the suburban landscape of Philadelphia. Prior to his move, John spent over 25 years as the Director of Music Ministries at Ridley Park Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania, where he played a vital role in shaping the church's musical traditions. He led the Ridley Community Chorus in Pennsylvania for nearly two decades and has served as music director at First Congregational Church of Fryeburg for 11 years.
Since his arrival in the Mount Washington Valley, John has remained actively engaged in the local music scene. He frequently lends his talents as a pit pianist and music director for area musical productions, with recent credits including The Sound of Music with Lake Region Community Theater, Big Fish at Fryeburg Academy, and Little Women, Newsies, and Mary Poppins with Arts in Motion.
After retiring from the United States Postal Service in 2009, John has pursued a variety of endeavors to stay busy and fulfilled. He works as a substitute teacher, coaches soccer, baseball, and tennis, and offers private tennis instruction. As a skilled accompanist, John also freelances, providing musical support for various events and performances. When he's not driving his teenage daughters to their activities, John enjoys unwinding in the evenings with a good book, watching sports, or tackling the challenges of New York Times crosswords.
