A Holiday Message from our District Governor
Dear Rotary Friends,
As we enter this special season, I want to wish each of you and your families a joyful and peaceful holiday. This time of year always reminds me how grateful I am for the dedication, compassion, and generosity that define our Rotary family.
Thank you for the remarkable work you do to strengthen and uplift our communities. Your service, creativity, and commitment to Unite for Good have inspired me throughout the first half of this Rotary year. Completing my club visits was truly a highlight — it gave me the opportunity to see firsthand the meaningful projects, collaborative spirit, and genuine fellowship happening across our district. You are making a real difference, and it shows.
As we look ahead to the second half of the year, I’m excited for all that’s to come. Together, we will continue building continuity in our efforts, advancing our district vision, and shaping a memorable and engaging District Conference. I am confident that the momentum we’ve created will carry us into a strong and impactful new year.
Thank you again for all you do. Wishing you warmth, joy, and renewal this holiday season — and looking forward to all we will accomplish together in the months ahead.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
Pam
The District 6600 Nominating Committee has selected Tiang Ang “Angelica” Rinehart of the Rotary Club of Fremont to serve as District Governor for Rotary Year 2028–2029.
Angelica brings a lifetime of Rotary experience to this role, having begun her Rotary journey as an Interactor in Malaysia and continuing through decades of service as a Rotaractor, club leader, Assistant Governor, and District Rotary Leadership Institute Co-Coordinator. Within the Fremont Rotary Club, she has served as Past President, as well as long-serving Secretary and Treasurer, demonstrating deep commitment and steady leadership.
With more than two-thirds of her life dedicated to Rotary, Angelica exemplifies Rotary’s values of service, mentorship, and international understanding. Her selection is also a meaningful milestone for the district, marking 50 years since a Fremont Rotarian last served as District Governor.
Please join us in congratulating Angelica on this well-deserved honor as we look forward to her leadership and service to District 6600.
This is a huge moment for Rotary District 6600 — and one you can be proud to be part of.
District 6600 has been named the Champion Partner for Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio’s 2026 Harvest for Hunger Campaign. That’s not just recognition — it’s a call to lead.
With 13 Rotary clubs located in Second Harvest’s four-county service area, District 6600 brings strong local leadership to the Harvest for Hunger campaign — with exciting potential to expand collaboration through adjacent food banks as the campaign takes shape.
From February through May 2026, Harvest for Hunger will put Rotary front and center in one of the region’s most impactful community campaigns. Clubs will have opportunities to:
Take part in the Harvest for Hunger Kick-Off Celebration
Join celebrity volunteer events
Set and celebrate bold fundraising goals
Engage members’ businesses and community partners
Amplify the message through Rotary social media and storytelling
No two clubs need to participate the same way — but every club can participate.
Winter and spring are among the toughest seasons for families facing food insecurity. Through Harvest for Hunger, every dollar donated can provide multiple meals right here in our communities.
This is Rotary in action:
Local impact
District-wide collaboration
Visible leadership
Measurable results
Being named Champion Partner is both an honor and an opportunity. Over the coming months, clubs will receive tools, ideas, and support from Second Harvest and District 6600 to help make participation easy, meaningful, and fun.
Let’s show our communities what happens when District 6600 leads with heart, purpose, and action.
More details coming soon — for now, start the conversation in your club. This is one effort we can all rally behind.
We have new news on the Rotary Direct Incentive! We just learned that Rotarians who are already enrolled in Rotary Direct can participate in the incentive by increasing their recurring monthly gift. This means both new enrollees AND current Rotary Direct donors who up their giving.
This is your final opportunity to take part in the Rotary Direct incentive campaign, which runs through January 1. Eligible participants will be entered to win $1,000 in cash and 1,000 Foundation Recognition Points. In addition, the Zone 30 district with the highest number of qualifying participants will receive $5,000 in cash, potentially supporting additional grants and club projects in District 6600.
Rotary Direct makes giving simple and predictable. Many members already contribute about $125 annually to The Rotary Foundation. With automatic monthly giving of just $10 or $11, that same impact can be reached over the year while receiving full Foundation and Paul Harris credit.
If you are not yet enrolled, or if you are already enrolled and able to increase your monthly gift, now is the time. Winners will be announced in January, and a short video explaining Rotary Direct is available at the link below.
Simple giving creates big impact. This is your last chance to participate.
Every act of giving is a statement of hope. Through the Legacy Campaign, Rotarians across District 6600 are helping build a future where our district can serve farther, support more communities, and create lasting impact.
To support this effort, the district has launched a Legacy Campaign website that brings campaign details, progress updates, event information, and ways to get involved into one easy to access location. The site will be updated regularly and is the best place to stay informed as the campaign continues.
Momentum is building. Together, we have surpassed $750,000 toward our $1 million goal, reflecting the generosity and shared commitment of Rotarians and friends across the district.
The Legacy Celebration Dinner will take place on February 28 at the Emerald Event Center, featuring Incoming Rotary International President Larry Lunsford as keynote speaker. Tickets are available through DACdb, and hotel accommodations with special Rotary rates are also available.
Thank you for being part of this important work and for helping create a legacy that will benefit communities for generations to come. Visit the Legacy Campaign website for the latest updates and details.
Last month, clubs across District 6600 were invited to take part in Operation Full Plate: United to Fight Hunger, a friendly competition between Zones 30 and 31 focused on addressing food insecurity. Many clubs have already taken action. Now it is time to be sure those efforts are reported and counted.
Clubs are encouraged to submit hunger related activities using the Operation Full Plate reporting link below. Points are awarded for donations, volunteer engagement, and public image activities, with recognition including district and zone awards and a membership grant. Questions should be directed to District Chief of Staff Lisa Wilson at lisarotary6600@gmail.com.
Since 1992, Rotary clubs in Erie County Ohio have supported local infant immunization efforts to help protect children from preventable diseases. What began as information sharing with new parents has grown into a strong community partnership.
Today, the Rotary Clubs of Sandusky, Huron, Milan, and Vermilion work alongside the Erie County Community Health Center to provide trusted immunization resources through www.immunizeyourinfant.org and free information packets distributed at Firelands Regional Medical Center. In October, members of the Immunization Committee were interviewed on the District 6600 WebCast to share more about this work. Listen to their interview using the link below.
Save the date for the 2026 Rotary District 6600 Peace Summit on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Lorain County Community College.
This free conference will inspire Rotarians and community members through compelling keynote speakers, interactive breakout sessions, and meaningful conversations centered on Courage — courage to lead, to listen, and to unite for peace.
More details coming after the first of the year. For now, save the date and plan to be part of this powerful day of learning and connection.
This is friendly reminder that District 6600 will take part in the 2026 EPIC Day of Service on Saturday, May 16, 2026, joining Rotary clubs around the world for a day of hands on service and community impact.
There is no single way to participate. Clubs may partner with another organization, collaborate with nearby clubs, or design a project that meets a local need. Some may even choose to extend their efforts throughout the month of May. What matters most is showing Rotary in action.
EPIC Day of Service is a global movement involving thousands of clubs and volunteers, and District 6600 is proud to be part of it. Start thinking now about a project that fits your community. More details and planning tools will be shared in the months ahead.
Clubs looking for a meaningful and impactful topic for their meetings are encouraged to consider a ShelterBox Year in Review presentation, now available to Rotary clubs by Zoom. ShelterBox has grown from a single Rotary club initiative in the United Kingdom in 2000 into a global humanitarian organization providing lifesaving aid to people displaced by natural disasters and conflict. In 2024 alone, ShelterBox supported approximately 270,000 people across 17 countries, and more than three million individuals worldwide have been helped since its founding.
A recording of this recent ShelterBox presentation is available on the District 6600 YouTube channel for clubs that would like a preview. The button below will take you directly to the recording. In addition, Renee Brouse, ShelterBox USA Rotary Relations Manager, is available to present this powerful update to clubs via Zoom. Clubs seeking an engaging program that highlights Rotary’s global impact are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. You can reach Renee directly at RBrouse@shelterboxusa.org.
December highlights one of Rotary’s core areas of focus: Disease Prevention & Treatment. Rotary members expand access to health care, strengthen local medical systems, and support healthier futures through initiatives like mobile clinics, maternal health programs, and health-education efforts.
Together, we help reduce suffering and create long-term stability. Through programs such as PolioPlus, malaria prevention, and community-based health projects, Rotary is bringing hope and healing to families around the world.

Vocational Service Month recognizes the unique ways Rotarians put their professional talents to work for good. By promoting ethical practices and valuing all careers, Rotary strengthens trust, opportunity, and leadership within our communities.
Whether supporting students, mentoring emerging leaders, or sharing professional skills through service projects, Rotarians demonstrate that service through vocation creates lasting impact. Our work reminds us that how we do our jobs matters just as much as what we do.
In January, consider how your own skills and experience might support a club project, inspire a student, or strengthen a local organization. Liberty Doctor, a Rotary Youth Exchange student sponsored by the Hicksville Rotary Club, is spending her academic year abroad in Switzerland and recently had the opportunity to visit the iconic Matterhorn. Through Rotary Youth Exchange, Liberty is experiencing new cultures firsthand, building global friendships, and gaining a deeper understanding of life beyond her home community.
Her photos capture both the beauty of Europe and the spirit of Youth Exchange, reminding us how powerful these experiences can be for young people. Liberty’s journey is a wonderful example of how Rotary opens doors to international learning and lifelong connections.
RYE Update from Program Chair
Rotary Youth Exchange activity is moving forward across District 6600. Each year, District 6600 partners with District 6630 to conduct student interviews and training at Akron Rotary Camp for both long-term and short-term exchange programs. Rotary’s long-term exchange places students abroad for an academic school year, while the short-term STEP program offers a one-month, family-to-family cultural exchange during the summer.
Three District 6600 students have been selected for the long-term academic exchange program and will depart in August 2026: Alex (Maumee), Alannah (Bryan), and Raquel (Hicksville). Photos from the recent training weekend at Akron Rotary Camp show both inbound students and prospective outbound students as they prepare for the exchange experience. Their next milestone is the January “Big Reveal” in North Carolina, where students learn their country placements.
Clubs are now needed to host inbound long-term exchange students arriving in August 2026. Clubs interested in hosting should contact Mary AufdenKampe, Past District Governor and District 6600 Rotary Youth Exchange Chair. Applications also remain open until March 1 for the STEP short-term exchange program taking place in summer 2026.
Rotarians interested in serving on the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee as an inbound, outbound, or STEP coordinator are encouraged to reach out. Committee members are vetted and participate in required training, including the North Carolina session.
Rotary Youth Exchange Program is accepting applications for the Short Term Exchange Program (STEP) until March 1st. Reach out to to Mary AufdenKampe at mary_aufdenkampe@hotmail.com
For more information on RYE, visit the website.
This is a friendly reminder that clubs are beginning to plan for the Rotary 4-Way Test Speech Contest, typically held at the club level in early spring, with district level competition in April. The contest invites students to apply Rotary’s 4-Way Test to topics they care about, strengthening ethical thinking, dialogue, and public speaking skills.
Several clubs across District 6600 have already committed to hosting this year, including Bellevue, Lorain, St. Marys, Perrysburg, Van Wert, Marion, Wauseon, New Bremen New Knoxville, Fremont, Lima, Oberlin, and Waterville Anthony Wayne Area. More clubs are expected to join, and it is not too late to participate.
Hosting a 4-Way Test Speech Contest is a meaningful way to engage youth and promote Rotary values. Clubs interested in hosting should contact the District 4-Way Test Speech Contest Chair. Additional details and guidelines are available on the Programs page of the district website.

Holiday Home Tour Brings Seasonal Spirit to Lima
The Lima Rotary Club’s Holiday Home Tour is a novel and festive way to usher in the holiday spirit while supporting the community. Held each December, the tour features a curated mix of historic and contemporary homes, beautifully decorated for the season and enhanced with floral designs and sweet treats from local businesses. Proceeds benefit the Lima Rotary Foundation, supporting local organizations and beloved community projects, turning holiday inspiration into meaningful impact.
Chestnuts, Cheer, and Vermilion Community
Each December, the Vermilion Rotary Club brings a bit of old-fashioned holiday charm to Main Street Vermilion’s Tree Lighting Event, "Light Up Vermilion", with its annual chestnut roasting. Now in its fourth year, the tradition begins hours before the festivities, as Rotarians gather to score and prepare 20 pounds of chestnuts before roasting them on site and sharing the warm, fragrant treats with the community. Chestnuts are offered free of charge, but donations are welcomed in support of Operation Christmas Joy, a local charity that provides wrapped toys to children in Vermilion. The event is a favorite for Rotarians and residents alike, offering a chance to share a timeless holiday tradition, spark conversations, and gently remind first-timers to peel the shell before taking a bite.
Vermilion Rotarians rolled up their sleeves in late November to support Thanksgiving Heroes, a growing nonprofit now reaching families in Vermilion and across Northeast Ohio. Volunteering alongside community members at the TES Engineering warehouse in Westlake, Rotarians helped pack Thanksgiving boxes filled with all the holiday essentials, including turkeys, to provide families in need with a warm and comforting meal. It was a hands on day of service, teamwork, and gratitude, and a reminder that sometimes the best way to celebrate the season is simply by helping others. Rotarians also recorded their service through the Operation Full Plate Reporting Link, and other clubs are encouraged to submit their food related service projects as well.
The Maumee Rotary Club took a fresh approach to its annual holiday gathering this year, choosing a low key celebration that put community impact first. By skipping the traditional country club dinner, Rotarians, family, and friends were able to direct more support toward local children, helping provide a brighter Christmas for 107 Maumee City Schools students. The evening, hosted at the Maumee Senior Center, was filled with generosity, fellowship, and a little festive fun, including an ugly sweater theme that proved easier for some than others. The result was a meaningful reminder that sometimes the best holiday traditions are the ones that give back.
The Lorain Rotary Club received well-deserved recognition in its local newspaper for the many ways members are spreading holiday cheer throughout the community. From supporting Lorain Winterfest, Salvation Army Angel Tags and Red Kettle bell ringing, and Toys for Tots, to assisting programs like Clothe-A-Child and supporting veterans at the Samuel L. Felton Jr. Valor Home, Lorain Rotarians continue to show what Service Above Self looks like in action. Congratulations to the Lorain Rotary Club for making such a meaningful impact this holiday season — and for shining a positive light on Rotary in Lorain County. Check out the Morning Journal article here.
Norwalk Rotarians helped make the season brighter by providing pizza for the Special Needs Christmas celebration at Norwalk High School. The festive event included a heartwarming performance by the NHS choir, a visit from Santa, and thoughtful handmade ornaments and cards created by students. Rotarians were grateful to celebrate alongside dedicated teachers, staff, and students during a joyful afternoon that truly captured the spirit of the holidays.
North Coast Rotarians spread holiday cheer through three thoughtful community initiatives focused on meeting local needs. Members assembled holiday themed food baskets for Community Resource Services, helping families prepare comforting meals during the season. Toys were also collected and donated to Toys for Tots, bringing joy to children throughout the community. In addition, Rotarians prepared senior baskets for Neighborhood Alliance, supporting its Meals on Wheels program that delivers meals to older adults. Through these efforts, North Coast Rotary turned generosity into meaningful holiday support for families, children, and seniors alike.

Rotary clubs are strongest when three essential “legs” work together: Membership, The Rotary Foundation, and Public Image. Like a stool, all three are needed for balance and strength. Each month we’ll highlight news and updates from these areas of focus to help your clubs grow, serve, and shine. Here are this month's updates.
Membership
Alison Frye
As we move through the Rotary year, I’m excited to share some very positive membership news from across District 6600. On July 1, we began the year with 2,759 members. As of today, our district has grown to 2,822 members—a net increase that reflects the intentional efforts happening at the club level every day.
Since July 1, we have welcomed 163 new members into Rotary and proudly readmitted 39 former Rotarians who chose to return to service. Just as important as growth is retention, and I’m pleased to report that our district retention rate currently stands at an impressive 96%. That number tells a powerful story about the value of the Rotary experience clubs are creating and the relationships being built across our district.
Membership success doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from strong club cultures, meaningful service, and members who invite others to join in Rotary’s work.
As part of our ongoing focus on engagement, I’d like to personally invite any Rotarians who have joined within the last 12 months to attend our District New Member Orientation on Monday, January 19th at 7:00 PM. This session is a great opportunity to learn more about Rotary beyond the club level, connect with fellow new members, and discover ways to get even more involved.
Thank you for all you do to grow and strengthen Rotary.
The Rotary Foundation
Deb Cheney
This holiday season is a meaningful time to honor someone special while making a real difference around the world. The Rotary Foundation makes it easy to give a memorial or tribute gift at rotary.org/donate — simply select “I would like to make this donation in honor or in memory of someone.” Donors receive full gift credit and a tax receipt (where applicable), and honorees or their families are notified of your thoughtful gesture.
For tax and legal purposes, be sure to list your own name as the donor. If your goal is to recognize someone, consider transferring Foundation Recognition Points instead. This simple option allows the honoree or their family to receive either an emailed or printable notification.
As you plan your year-end giving, remember that even a modest contribution can create tremendous impact. For example, a $100 donation can:
Provide textbooks for an entire elementary school in Zambia
Give a hearing aid to a deaf child in Pakistan
Supply de-worming tablets for 112 children in the Philippines
Fund cataract surgeries for three people in India
Provide 230 winter blankets for elderly individuals in Korea
A gift to The Rotary Foundation — whether in honor of someone or simply from the heart — truly changes lives. Will you give $100 or more this year? Visit rotary.org/donate to make your holiday gift today.
Public Image
Jen Allred
As we wrap up the year and reflect on all that Rotary has accomplished, it is a great time to focus on how we share our stories and invite others into our impact. Over the past several months, District 6600 has built a growing library of Public Image Power Hours, short and practical sessions designed to help clubs strengthen their visibility, storytelling, and outreach.
These on demand resources make it easy for club leaders and members to learn at their own pace. The thoughtful questions and real world examples shared by those who joined live Power Hours have helped shape each session, and continued engagement from Rotarians who watch the recordings afterward has made this library an even stronger tool for clubs.
In addition, the D6600 Webcast continues to highlight Rotary in action across our district. Recent episodes feature MESA, the Erie County Infant Immunization initiative, Rotary Foundation Month, and a special message from District Governor Pam, offering another way to stay informed, inspired, and connected.
Looking ahead to the new year, our January Power Hour on January 8, 2026 will focus on Promoting Your Club’s Fundraiser. As the holiday season reminds us of the power of connection and goodwill, thank you for your continued interest in strengthening Rotary’s public image. Click the button below to explore District 6600’s YouTube channel and access the Power Hour library and D6600 Webcast episodes.
As year-end approaches, club leaders are encouraged to review their membership roster in DACdb and compare it with Rotary International (My Rotary). Rotary dues are calculated based on each club’s active membership in RI as of January 1, so it’s important that all membership adds, terminations, and status changes are accurately reflected in RI several business days before the end of the calendar year. Taking time now to confirm your records can help prevent billing discrepancies and ensure your club remains in good standing.
If you need assistance logging into DACdb or MyRotary, you can contact Sharon Trabbic at sharon@trabbic.com
