D.A. D. S. is a community-based organization designed to bring the presence of fathers and positive role models into collaborating organizations. Its mission is to positively affect the attitudes and behaviors of young African-American boys and boys of color by increasing the presence of male role models in their schools. .D.A.D.S. will provide the services to address the lack of male adult support and participation with young males in the D20PCP participating schools. The organization has been in existence since 1995 serving schools in the tri-county area in partnership with MUSC, Trident Urban League, and the Sisters of Charity under a federal grant through the Institute of Psychiatry. Calvin Malone, is the Founder and CEO.
Each D20PCP school will identify a site coordinator to recruit, maintain high participation and match boys to their D.A.D.S. volunteer mentors in providing service, fun activities, personal growth and development activities and unique experiences to build self esteem, confidence and academic success.
