Search Engines
Finding what you want on the internet can sometimes be frustrating. Just entering one keyword will result in too much information.
Search engines are designed to help you dig through all the information but they are only as good as the information you give them. Remember to search by
1. Entering keywords
2. Refining your search with other terms
3. Asking for specific content like images or articles
4. Using search tools to narrow things down even more
On my Google homepage, there is a search bar. If I want to know what the weather is, I start typing in the search bar.
When I type in "weather", as I type, Google offers suggestions relating to what I have typed in.
I can keep typing adding more specific terms and the suggested searches change as I add in more information. If I see in the suggested searches what I am searching for, all I have to do is click on it.
The search results are displayed with the best match at the top. You can scroll down the page to see more results.
You can use the "Images" button to narrow down your search results to images only.
You can use the "Maps" button to open a map to show the location of what you are searching for.
The map is a live document and you can zoom in and out for more or less details. You can click and hold to move the map around to recenter for different views.
Some searches will give you more matches than you could ever look at. The total number of results for your search is displayed.
When you are looking at the results, the first thing that is displayed is the website address, and then the description. This makes it easier to choose results from websites that you trust.
