Keeping daily logs has been super helpful for me to track what I've done each day, noting any accomplishments or challenges I faced, and helping me stay organized with my tasks. The final performance evaluation combined everything from these daily logs and the evaluation form, giving me useful feedback on my strengths and areas I can improve on, which I think will really help me grow in my career.

In the records and ID department, I learned about the significance of accurate documentation in criminal investigations, including how evidence and information are compiled and stored, and the importance of maintaining confidentiality. Sitting in courtrooms gave me perspective on criminal proceedings, from arraignment to sentencing. I observed how legal protocols are followed and the roles of different participants in the judicial system, deepening my appreciation for due process. Shadowing detectives and the crime scene unit provided hands-on learning about investigative techniques, evidence collection, and forensic science, underscoring the meticulous nature of criminal Investigations.
Additionally, my time with dispatch familiarized me with the critical flow of communication during emergencies and the skills needed for quick, effective decision-making in high-pressure scenarios. Working with the Police Athletic League's afterschool program not only enriched my skills in mentorship and engagement with youth but also taught me the importance of building community trust and promoting positive relationships between law enforcement and local residents.
