This challenge was to move 10 ping pong balls from a starting position to a jar which was 20 feet away. My group idea for doing this was to use a leaf blower to blow the ball to a wheel. Which the wheel would place the ball on a continuous L bracket and that would guide it into the jar.
To the right was the trigger used to release the ball once it was loaded into the mechanism.
After the ball was released, our leaf blower would blow it into the wheel. This wheel was powered by a vex motor and was gear ratio to spin at a certain speed. Allowing for the ball to fall into the three groves of the wheel to slow it down. The fabric mesh above the wheel allows air to easily escape and not affect the ball.
Once the wheel has deposit the ball onto the continuous L bracket, it will roll down the track all the way into the jar. To make it easier to aim, we laser cut an aligner which shows how far the mechanism needs to be for the ball to reach in the jar.
With out mechanism, we were able to 2th place at JPL regional and 5th place at JPL finals.
