“There is no such thing as 'away'. When we throw anything away it must go somewhere.”
We strive to help Cypress become a school that is more environmentally conscious, by spreading awareness about the harmful effects of e-waste, specifically batteries.
Throwing away batteries is illegal in California. This is because they can spark fires or create unsafe environments for waste workers. Instead, they should be properly disposed of as hazardous waste. Yet often people throw away their batteries into trash cans. Every year Americans throw away more than 3 billion batteries. On average American households buy around 90 alkaline batteries annually. We want to help change that!
