Mysterious Space X-Rays from "Cygnus X-3"

This is a set of exercises on the analysis of X-ray data from the Cygnus X-3. The aim of the exercise is to see how scientific analysis of data is done and to introduce the students to python using jupyter notebooks.

  • The talk is here The data analysis is best done via a jupyter notebook running on google's computers . There is an explanation of how to do this in the talk. The jupyter notebook is on google collab.

  • If you don't have a google account, you can access the jupyter notebook There is a jupyter-notebook tab on the programs menu under anaconda. You need to click on that -- this will bring up a web page and then you need to find the location of the jupyter notebook.

  • Please run through the jupyter notebook and work through the questions here

I have created an example which shows some of the basic features of the panda module. You can get to it from google collab. or download it to your local computer.
