Competitive events in DECA revolve around getting students ready to thrive in a real-world business setting. Events can be either individual or group-based, and will most likely consist of a role-play scenario, a written paper, or a planned presentation. Most events also require an objective test.
DECA Competition events fall into one of five real-world clusters:
1. Business Management + Administration
2. Finance
3. Marketing
4. Hospitality & Tourism
5. Entrepreneurship
This is our first competition to put our skills to the test after all year and will decide who will advance to the state competition
This year, our State Competition will be in Dallas and will be harder than Districts but more fun because we are out of town in a different city and will stay in a hotel.
This is our main goal for this year. This is the Super Bowl of high school competitions and even advancing looks great on college applications. This international competition will put us on the world stage for showing off our skills in Orlando, FL

In Role Plays, competitors are often presented a real world scenario, and the team has to analyze and plan their solution for about 10-30 minutes, depending on the event. Then, the team presents its findings and information to a judge for about 10-15 minutes. In the prep time, participants are given a sheet of paper, pencil, and eraser to make any notes that they need. They are also given a sheet highlighting the performance indicators that go along with the event.
In Written Events, competitors prepare a form of written paper months before the actual competition. Teams submit the presentation prior to the conference and present their finding to judges. These events allow competitors to show their creativity with groundbreaking concepts and ideas!
