Schedule-at-a-Glance for the 20th Cyclone Workshop
The design of the Scientific Program for the Cyclone Workshop is not typical of conferences in the atmospheric sciences. Speakers are given 20 minutes for presentations (a 15 minute talk and 5 minutes for questions) and discussion periods are built into the schedule.
The “free” time in the afternoon is typically used for a mix of recreation and informal discussion between attendees. Evening sessions are scheduled after dinner each night of the Workshop, and focus on current and/or contentious topics in the field.
If you will be unable to present during the session assigned to you, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to adapt the program to your schedule.
Climbing down from the ivory tower to sample the real world can be a messy business, but somebody needs to do it. This evening session consists of reports from the field: recent and upcoming observational campaigns. Come and learn about all of the data that we'll be using in our synoptic-dynamics research for the next ??? years (think ERICA-IOP4: 36 years young!).
Nothing says "Cyclone Workshop" like wine, cheese and posters! Two evening poster sessions are planned for the 20th Cyclone Workshop, each accommodating a limited number of posters and an unlimited amount of wine (sorry: cash bar). These highly successful sessions are a great way to jump into detailed scientific discussions about your work.
Mesoanalysis by hand from station data; graphical smoothing on a light table; Bellamy triangles. Fundamental tools of the trade, or a boon for psychologists treating traumatized graduates? Students and teachers: have your voices heard in this panel-led discussion on the past, present and future of teaching in our field!
