Hurricane Erick is undergoing rapid intensification and is expected to be a major hurricane before landfall Thursday morning.
Life-threatening impacts are expected from Erick as extreme rainfall of up to 12-20 inches will spread along the southeastern Mexican states of Guerrero and Oaxaca, leading to intense flooding and mudslides inland.
Strong winds of major hurricane force, storm surge and large swells are expected as well as the system nears the coast beginning Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
Residents along the southeastern coast should evacuate or rush to complete preparations that will protect life and property.
