CyberLimb

Task: Build an arm prosthesis with which the pilot can perform a series of activities of daily living.

Pilot: Transradial (below elbow) or more proximal (above elbow) amputation or dysmelia of at least one arm.

Goal

The goal of this team is to develop an arm prosthesis system - as robust, safe and comfortable as possible. We will be working on all the aspects of this comprehensive task: from intricate mechatronic subsystems to increasing the feeling of embodiment of the device by the user through closed-loop sensory substitution.

Current research topics:

  • Mechatronic design of a lower-arm prosthesis

  • EMG-based shared control

  • Tactile sensors on the fingertips

  • Machine learning for tactile sensing

  • Sensory feedback
