Only teams composed entirely of students in their respective divisions are eligible for prizes (mixed division teams are not eligible for prizes).
*Because the goal of this CTF is to promote cybersecurity and ethical hacking to students who are new to this area, participants who have competed on a top 200 global ctftime team before are not eligible for prizes.
**The first place prize will be awarded to the team with the most points. The second place prize will be awarded to the next highest team consisting of members only from Canyon Crest Academy.
CyberClassCTF is a cybersecurity and ethical hacking competition hosted by CyberClass! It is open to all 4-12th grade students. Competitors will be challenged to solve a series of different problems related to cybersecurity in order to find hidden flags. Challenge categories include cryptography, computer forensics, web exploitation, reverse engineering, and binary exploitation.
CyberClassCTF is open to competitors of all levels! The competition will contain a variety of beginner-level problems, as well as more challenging ones for more skilled participants.
CTF stands for "Capture the Flag," which is a common format for security competitions. Pieces of information called "flags" are put inside of servers, images, websites, or otherwise hidden so that they are difficult to access. Flags often take the format of "flag{this_is_a_flag}," but not always. Flags can be acquired by hacking a website, reverse engineering a piece of code, decrypting a message, or a variety of other means. The goal of the competition is to find flags. Competitors can then submit flags to earn points.
Competitors may choose to compete either individually or in teams of up to three players. How to split any prize the team may win is entirely up to the team's own discretion.
If you would like to compete in a team but cannot find one, we can help you form teams in our Launch Day Meeting (through Zoom). Sign up for this meeting here.
To compete, you need only a computer with a web browser and the ability to download and install applications! If you would like, you can also download and install a Linux virtual machine, which can make solving certain challenges easier.
Competitors should only compete with those in their own team. Cross team collaboration is not allowed, and direct assistance from others outside of the team is also prohibited. However, you are allowed and highly encouraged to search for tools and resources on the Internet and use them to solve challenges.
Attacking any infrastructure or machines not explicitly designated as targets is strictly prohibited.
CCTF is written and organized by CyberClass coaches in collaboration with Canyon Crest Academy's CyberPatriot club.
