This Privacy Policy describes how Cyber Pulse ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of our mobile application, Cyber Pulse (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect  

We collect several types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our App for you:  

• a) Personal Data You Provide:

  • Account Information: When you register or log in, we collect your email address and process your password (securely hashed). We also receive a unique User ID (UID).

  • Feedback Information: If you submit feedback through the App (e.g., thumbs up/down, text comments), we collect the content of your feedback. This may be stored anonymously or associated with your unique ID to help us understand context and improve the App.

b) Data Stored Locally on Your Device:

• Bookmarks: When you bookmark summaries or articles, this information (e.g., summary identifiers, content snippets) is stored locally on your device. We do not typically access or transfer this local data off your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain the App's core functionality (displaying summaries and articles).  

• To allow you to create and manage your user account (login/logout).

• To store your saved bookmarks locally on your device.

• To store your preferences (like time zone).

• To send you push notifications about new daily summaries (with your consent).

• To collect and analyse feedback to improve the App's content and features.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With Third-Party Service Providers: We use third-party services to operate our App. These providers process your data on our behalf based on our instructions and in compliance with this policy and confidentiality requirements. Our main provider is Google for:

  • Authentication: For user login and account management.

  • Data Storage: For storing summaries (public data) and user feedback.

  • Notifications: For delivering push notifications.

• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.  

4. Data Storage and Security

The security of your data is important to us. We rely on the infrastructure and security measures provided by Google to store data processed online. Data stored locally resides only on your device. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.  

• Account information (Email, UID) is retained as long as your account is active.

• Feedback may be retained indefinitely to help improve the service, unless you request deletion.

• Data stored locally remains on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall the App.

6. Account Deletion

We respect your right to control your personal data. If you wish to delete your account and have your associated personal data removed from our systems, please follow the instructions below:

How to Request Account Deletion:

You can request the deletion of your account by sending an email to cyberpulse3200@gmail.com. Please include the following information in your email to help us process your request efficiently:

• Subject Line: Account Deletion Request

• The email address associated with your account

What Happens After You Request Account Deletion:

Upon receiving and verifying your account deletion request, we will take steps to remove your personal data from our active systems. This process may take up to 30 days. Please be aware that some information may be retained for a longer period if required by law (such as for tax or legal compliance) or for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention or security). In such cases, we will ensure that the data is only processed for these specific purposes and for no longer than necessary. 

Data That Will Be Deleted:

Upon successful account deletion, we will make reasonable efforts to delete the following categories of personal data associated with your account:

• Email address

Data That May Be Retained:

Please note that some anonymized or aggregated data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained for statistical or analytical purposes. We may also retain certain information as required by law or for our legitimate business interests, as outlined in this Privacy Policy. 

7. Links to Other Websites / In-App Browser Content

Our App may contain links to other websites or display content from third-party websites within an in-app browser. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content (including advertising content), privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. 

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
