Attacks known as "DoS" (denial of service) are intended to render a service unavailable.
The media routinely reports assaults that have been launched against well-known websites. Denial of service can, however, be caused by assaults on any sort of system, including industrial control systems that support crucial processes.
The perceived impact of a DoS attack on a website depends on your point of view. The website appears to have simply ceased displaying content to the typical user. It can imply for businesses that the web systems they rely on have stopped working. The inability to retrieve sensor data or manage crucial processes may be signs of a DoS assault on industrial control systems.
DOS attacks provide the following symptoms:
• slowed server performance that can stop all other access;
• inability to access server resources.
DOS attack consequences:
Genuine users may not be able to find the information or take the necessary actions because they cannot access the resources.
Companies might be unable to complete time-sensitive tasks.
Their reputation could be damaged.
Customers might decide to employ a rival.
DOS attacks have several causes:
Financial – The attacker can ask for money to end the attack.
Political – The attacker can want to take down government websites to denounce policies taken by the administration.
Personal - A person may decide to exact retribution on a business if they have a dispute with it.
