Associate Proffesor
Chairman of the Czech Phycological Society
Head of Department of Botany
I am an associate professor at the Department of Botany, Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic) and chairman of the Czech Phycological Society. I was a postdoc at Uppsala University (Sweden) and completed habilitation at Charles University, Prague (Czech Republic). I am interested in evolutionary biology, taxonomy, and systematics of cyanobacteria and algae. Currently, I am investigating factors driving the emergence of new species in Microcoleus (cyanobacteria) and chrysophytes (Synura and Mallomonas) using population genomics, phylogenomics, and bioinformatics. I also pursue the application of phylogenomics and population genomics into the taxonomy across all cyanobacterial groups.

I am an evolutionary biologist interested in genomics of microorganisms, especially cyanobacteria. I completed my PhD at Palacký University Olomouc in 2023, where I investigated evolutionary forces governing diversification of cyanobacteria on a global and local scale by focusing on genome-wide signatures of diversity and divergence. I am a postdoctoral researcher in the same lab since October 2023. I am currently applying bioinfomatics approaches to study the adaptation and genetic variation of Microcoleus cyanobacterium using nanopore sequencing data.
I am a molecular biologist, interested in population genomics and taxonomy of micoralgae and specifically fillamentous cyanobacteria. I finished my PhD studies at Palacký University in Olomouc in 2025, focusing on investigating population genomics and biogeography of fillamentous soil-crust forming cyanobacteria, with the employment of large-scale datasets. Currently, I am a post-doctoral researcher and principal investigator of a project focusing on investigating genomic and epigenomic drivers of speciation in cyanobacteria from hot and cold extreme environments.

I am a molecular biologist, and I completed my master's degree in 2023. During both my bachelor's and master's studies, I focused on virology and phytopathology. After taking a one-year break, I am working on my PhD at Palacký University in Olomouc, where I am studying speciation and adaptation in cyanobacteria and how they are influenced by the environment. I am utilizing genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenomics.

I completed my master´s degree in biotechnology and genetic engineering, and because of my interest in cyanobacteria and molecular biology, I decided to pursue PhD at Palacký University in Olomouc. I am studying the evolution of cyanobacteria and their mechanisms of adaptation to stress conditions. My main focus is epigenetics, exploring how different DNA modifications influence the process of speciation of the cyanobacterium Microcoleus.
