Trinity Christian College's Education Program Goals and Expected Learning Outcomes (EPLOs)
The mission of the Education Unit at Trinity Christian College is to prepare teachers through critical thought in coursework and application in
field and clinical experiences to serve God, students, and the teaching profession in a spirit of excellence. To that end, and consistent with the
mission of the college, the unit has formulated a set of objectives termed “Education Program Learning Outcomes.” These learning outcomes
embody both the foundational knowledge and professional competencies necessary for teacher candidates to enter the profession prepared to
serve with humility and excellence.
Student-teacher interns who have completed Trinity’s teacher education program will be able . . .
1. To embody Christ-like servanthood
Students will be able to discern how God’s self-giving love in creation and redemption gives shape to their own calling to educate in faithful, hopeful, and loving ways.
Students will be able to make pedagogical choices informed by this worldview.
Students will be able to demonstrate a humble spirit in the service of their educational learning communities.
2. To cultivate relational peace, educational equity, and justice in diversity
Students will develop their knowledge and identity as peacemakers: rejoicing in the gift of difference, while pursuing social justice through practices of advocacy and reconciliation.
3. To practice excellent teaching
Students will be able to nurture their students’ critical thinking, physical wellbeing, and social and emotional maturity.
Teacher candidates will apply differentiated best teaching practices to improve the learning of all students.
4. To practice faithful professionalism
Students will be responsive to Scripture and the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
