Work Options helps people learn job-ready skills, gain confidence and secure sustainable employment in the food service industry. Their primary training center is located on the Mosaic Community Campus at 1895 Quebec Street in Denver, formerly the home of Johnson & Wales University's prestigious College of Culinary Arts. Work Options students now have the opportunity to train in these world-class teaching kitchens. Students can complete free training and become employed in as few as 20 days. Training typically lasts 4-6 weeks. We help students gain job-ready, transferable skills that lead to employment. After completing our core training, most students will be ready to immediately begin job search to find employment. Others will be selected for our Apprenticeship program where they will gain hands-on work experience during paid employment. Our Pre-Apprenticeship students gain work experience and practice their skills while working at our social enterprises. Emily Griffith Technical College is the public, postsecondary and adult education arm of the Denver Public School system and is one of three area technical colleges in the Colorado Community College System. It's located right next door to CWEE, making it a convent location for CWEE participants.The college was founded in 1916 to offer educational opportunities for all who wish to learn. By providing students equal access to education and real-world opportunities, Emily Griffith strives to remove barriers in the education system.
Emily Griffith offers several areas of study including Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate programs, with a hands-on learning focus. It also offers Apprenticeships tonearn while you learn, English Language Acquisition to improve everyday language skills and prepare for further education or the workforce, GED, and Continuing Education courses.

By combining your education and paid experience with our employer partners, you'll be able to launch your career even faster. Apprenticeship is a high-quality career pathway that combines paid on-the-job learning with classroom instruction. An Apprentice learns a skilled trade or profession under the guidance of a qualified mentor. Working alongside experienced professionals the apprentice gains hands-on exposure. Wages increase progressively as an apprentice gains skills and becomes more productive. Apprentices participate in classroom instruction to deepen their understanding of required skills and industry standards. Upon successful completion, apprentices often receive a certification or qualification that acknowledges their competency in the trade or profession, allowing them to pursue employment opportunities in their chosen field. competency-based. There is a teacher shortage in Colorado (2,800 vacancies to start the 2024-25 school year) and a 2023 Colorado state law is trying to make it easier for people to become educated and get training to get into teaching faster. The program combines college classes with on-the-job training to provide adults without a bachelor’s degree a pathway to becoming a licensed K-12 teacher. The program is great for folks who want to go to college, but need to also make money at the same time. This is a change to earn money while you learn. Several school districts, like Cherry Creek, have their own apprenticeship programs. The program takes 2-4 years to get a bachelor's degree and helps to make sure participants don't take out student loans.

TreeForce is an entry-level career exploration pre-apprenticeship geared towards folks curious about careers in urban and community forestry. The work is hands-on, team-oriented, and in-depth with content ranging from Tree Biology to pruning for structural health. TreeForce cohorts run three times a year, usually beginning in February, April, and September and running for 6-8 weeks. A typical week runs Monday - Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. with lessons ranging from the classroom to the tops of our trees.
TreeForce is looking to diversify its participants and it's open to justice-impacted folks and can help cover costs of applications. Cohorts are limited and if you are accepted, you can earn $20-28 an hour. Jobs aren't guaranteed after, but TreeForce will work with you to find employment. New qualifying apprentices may receive a scholarship that can be used for tuition, fees, tools, and other training materials. Women’s Bean Project operates a food manufacturing business, while providing support as you move forward on your new path towards self-sufficiency. The goal is to provide you with the necessary job readiness and life skills needed to set you on a pathway for long-term success. We hire women who come from all walks of life and different backgrounds who are struggling to get or keep a job. If you are in a similar situation, we urge you to apply to work in our 6-9 month transitional employment program. You must be at least 21 years of age and have a history of unemployment to qualify.
FreeWorld is a tech nonprofit designed for justice-impacted and formerly incarcerated people and helps them get their Commercial Drivers License. Once accepted to the program, the FreeWorld team will train Free Agents (program participants) as truck drivers, and continue to assist them in finding higher-paying jobs for a period of five years after graduation. From application to job placement, individuals can complete the program within 45 days.
