Our ski season is officially underway! Whether you've been at practices or are interested in joining our club as a new skier, please make sure you've officially registered for this season. A reminder that this year's registration fee covers a whole host of seasonal costs for the club such as race fees, wax services, coach and wax tech pay, training camps throughout the year, team roller skis and other equipment, and other expenses. With everything available to our skiers year-round, CVN is proud to offer the most opportunity possible for the lowest cost to families that we can.
This year in particular, we have both a monthly payment plan option established, as well as an ongoing opportunity to fundraise by selling Kwik Trip car wash cards for profit, with part of those proceeds offsetting registration costs. For more information about the fundraiser or payment plan, families can email cvnteammanager@gmail.com!
Come join us at Banbury Place - Eau Claire Conference Room (Building 2, 3rd Floor) on Monday, November 3rd at 6:00p.m. to hear all about our upcoming season, get to know the team & coaches, and register your skiers! We'll have lots to share about our early season camp, training plans, race schedule, new opportunities for fun practice formats, and all the info about how to get started in the sport for new families! All the weather forecast projections are looking great, and we're excited about the chance to get back on snow this winter!
See you there!
Lace up your trail shoes and get ready for the Red Yeti Rampage, a fall trail run hosted by the Chippewa Valley Nordic Ski Team (The Red Yetis) at Tower Ridge! Choose from either a 5K or 10K route — both begin and end at the Chalet and finish down the Stadium. The 10K features about 233 feet of total elevation change, so expect the classic flowy, rolling terrain of our beloved ski trails!
Every entrant enjoys hearty post-race fare: bratwurst, chips, and dessert are included with your entry. Afterwards, stick around for door prizes, raffles, drinks (ID required for beer purchases), and great community vibes. Whether you're pushing for a PR or just soaking in the scenery, it’s a race for all levels!
Is it possible that the best movie ever made about cross-country skiing doesn’t have a single scene which was filmed on snow? The answer is a decided yes. Because that movie is “A to B Roller Ski,” and it shatters the ceiling for what a movie about cross-country skiing can be.

Until the trails are groomed, we hold our dry-land, non-rollerski practices at Pinehurst Park in Eau Claire, WI. Workouts include HR zone-specific interval runs with poles + hill bounding, strength circuits, core workouts, mobility games, and more.
Tower Ridge is our main practice location during the bulk of the season when trails are groomed. It is the largest cross-country ski trail complex in both Eau Claire County and in west central Wisconsin. It is located on Eau Claire County forestland in the town of Seymour off CTH L. It has approximately 12 miles of trail with terrain of varying degrees of difficulty offering something for all levels of skiers. The ski trails include wooded, rolling terrain, and are groomed and tracked on the highest priority basis of the four ski trails offered by the county. The recreation area includes a Chalet with flush toilets, additional pit toilets, approximately 3 km of lighted trails and a snowshoe trail adjacent to but separate from the lighted ski trails.
A few Saturdays a season, our athletes are treated to optional long distance practices at one of Wisconsin's premiere xc ski desinations: Hickory Ridge in New Auburn, WI, approximately 40 minutes away from Eau Claire. Founded by Birkie Founder and local WI legend Dave Landgraf, and carried on by the Friends of Hickory Ridge, this network of over 25K of impeccably maintained ski trail offers fast, rolling trails (with a few excellent climbs and descents) nestled within deep woods. Planned expanded amenities for the coming season include expanded parking at the Southern trailhead and an additional picnic/warming shelter. A warming cabin is located at the North end of the trails near Dog Island.
During the dry land portion of the season, our athletes are strongly encouraged to attend rollerski practices at River Prairie Park in Altoona, WI. This beautiful park that offers many amenities includes a 3mi looped paved trail along the Eau Claire River ideal for rollerskiing.
