Trash is collected weekly, every Thursday morning. Recycling is collected every other Tuesday morning.
Weekly trash and recycling collection is handled by Borden Waste Away (wasteawaygroup.com/borden-residential.html). If there are issues with collection, or you need a new or different sized bin, contact HOA Board Member Cliff Flesher, (574) 360-2411. Borden mails refrigerator magnets of the recycling pickup schedule every December, or download a copy of the Tuesday A schedule at www.sjcindiana.com/1978/Curbside-Recycling-Calendar .
Residential trash and recycling container placement Carts should be placed within three feet of the curb, without any obstructions.
Tips for managing your trash and trash collection:
Place trash out the night before or before 6 a.m. on the service day
Bag trash before placing it into the container to help minimize spillage
Place trash container or cart no more than two feet off of the street
Fit all trash into the cart with the lid closed. Additional trash, in bags, will be billed accordingly
Place the container or cart where it will be free from obstructions
Minimize odor by cleaning the container with bleach periodically
Keep the service area free from obstructions
Do not store or park in front of the service area
Acceptable yard waste in trash:
Small Brush, twigs, tree trimmings, bagged grass clippings, garden and household plants and small branches (less than three inches) that have been bundled or bagged.
Recycling tips:
Fit all recyclables into the cart with the lid closed
Recycling should be loose and placed inside the cart
Set the carts out the night before or prior to 6am on your service day

Carts should open towards the street/alley with wheels towards the home/business
Place the carts where they will be free from obstructions, at least 5 feet from any other objects

Rinse out recyclables before placing them in the cart
All cardboard should be cut or broken down & fit into recycling cart loosely
Place shredded paper inside a clear bag in the cart
