From the report, it can be said that Covid-19 shed light on a pre existing problem of shortage of Healthcare Professionals and Healthcare Supplies. Due to Covid-19, the demand for both professionals and facilities increased causing pressure on the limited resources.
According to CDC ,Contingency Capacity Strategies to Mitigate Staffing Shortages include;
1. Cancel all non-essential procedures and visits. Facilities will need to ensure these HCP (Health care Personnel) have received appropriate orientation and training to work in these areas that are new to them.
2. Identify additional HCP to work in the facility. Be aware of state-specific emergency waivers or changes to licensure requirements or renewals for select categories of HCP.
3. Developing regional plans to identify designated healthcare facilities or alternate care sites with adequate staffing to care for patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Allowing HCP with SARS-CoV-2 infection who are well enough and willing to work to return to work as follows:
1. At least 5 days have passed since symptoms first appeared (day 0).
2. At least 24 hours have passed since last fever without the use of fever-reducing medications.
3. Symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath) have improved.
