CutUp does not collect, store or share any personal information. This policy explains how the CutUp video editing app (the "App"), made by Cipher Code ("we", "us"), handles your information and the photos, videos and audio you edit with it.
We do not collect any personal information. CutUp has no accounts or sign-in, and it never asks for your name, email address, phone number or location.
The App has no servers and works fully offline. The photos, videos and audio you edit, your projects and your exported videos stay on your device and are never uploaded to us.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and the App shows no ads.
CutUp asks only for the permissions it needs to edit videos, and uses them only on your device.
Photos and videos: to show your gallery so you can pick media to edit, and to save your exported videos to it. On Android 14 and later you can allow access to selected photos and videos only.
Music and audio: to add music or sound files that you choose.
Storage (Android 12 and earlier only): older Android versions need this to read your media, and Android 10 and earlier to save exported videos.
Vibration: for short haptic feedback when you tap buttons or snap clips on the timeline.
Internet: included by the app framework. CutUp never sends your photos, videos, projects or any personal information over the internet.
Everything you create in CutUp is kept in the App's private storage on your device.
Imported media: when you add a photo, video or audio file, the App copies it into its private storage so your project keeps working if the original moves. Your original files are never changed.
Projects: saved automatically on your device as you edit, together with the thumbnails and audio waveforms the App makes for the timeline.
Exported videos: saved to your device's gallery, where you manage them like any other video.
Deleting a project: removes the project and the App's copies of its media that no other project uses.
Uninstalling: removes all App data, including projects and imported copies. Videos you exported to your gallery stay there.
The App opts out of Android's automatic app-data backup, so your projects are not copied to a cloud backup.
We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone, because we never receive it.
CutUp contains no third-party advertising, analytics or crash-reporting services.
If you share an exported video with your device's share feature, it goes to the app you choose and is handled under that app's privacy policy.
Google Play, which distributes the App, may collect information under the Google Privacy Policy. Google may give us anonymous, aggregated statistics, such as install counts and crash rates, that do not identify you.
CutUp is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. Because the App collects no personal information, it does not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Your projects and imported media stay in the App's private storage, which other apps on your device cannot read. Because nothing is sent to us, no copy of your content exists on our side to protect or lose.
Videos you export to your gallery can be seen by other apps you have allowed to access your photos. A screen lock on your device helps keep your content private.
You control your data at all times:
Allow, limit or remove the App's access to your photos, videos and audio in your device's Settings. Features that need that access stop working until you allow it again.
Delete any project from the Projects list on the App's home screen.
Uninstall the App to remove all of its data from your device.
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side.
We may update this policy when the App changes, for example if a new feature needs information the App does not use today. We will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
