We got just a bit spooky for our last design challenge, where we asked you to send us some modal cards! Let's get right to it.

Hello designers! Another month has passed, which means it is time for your designs to be reviewed. The three designs I like the most will be presented to you here. Enjoy!
Third Place
Fear of the Wild (Designed by Wrong Note)
Whew, this is a whole lot of text. Three keywords and an insanely modal ability is quite a bit to take in, but the interplay between the abilities is actually pretty interesting. The first two are pretty disparate, but the third ability puts cards in your graveyard for the second and buffs your Foods for the first, so it’s a push pull of how often you do the big setup ability versus some combination of the two payoffs. I do think a number of pawprints this small sort of negates the value of the mechanic because there’s actually only three options (3x food, 1x food 1x damage, or 1x manifest) so the card would be much shorter just writing that out. Solid art and name round out this third place submission.
Second Place
From the Same Cloth (Designed by Envoy of Aeons)
Not too much to say about it, this is just a solid well-designed draft common. Being usable as a combat trick, a bounce spell, or an expensive potential 2-for-1 means it’s good at all points in the game, and I’d expect it to be quite powerful in a limited environment. The name, flavor, and art here are pretty cool, with interesting themes of fate and puppets and string. I like this package a lot, and it finds its way into second place.
First Place
Harvesttide Festivities (Designed by CyberFive)
Oh, this is delightful! A very clever use of the modal enchantment tech we’ve seen on Tarkir’s sieges, this card’s effects very cleverly fit the “Trick or Treat” theme with two abilities that are good in different scenarios but both fit in the same strategy, the perfect place for a card like this. The art here is a little odd (more cult-ish than Halloween-y) but its easily made up for by the fantastic and ludonarratively satisfying abilities. This entry gets treated to a first place finish!
Now, back to designing. For next month, as ‘tis continues to be the season, design a card that represents the changing of the seasons.
Good work, and good luck!
