Revolution, November, 2025
Month three of a Revolution season is buff month and this season's was one for the ages. Cliques of Nylin has made it one revolution around the sun in the format so it was time for designer Stasis to propose adjustments to cards that were meant to make a splash but hadn't hit the table much yet. League play at the start of the month was flush with decks built around the new toys. Ultimately 21 players joined this month's tournament, nearly half of which were sporting a buffed Cliques of Nylin card in their decklist.
The ratio jumped to two-thirds in top cut, with the headliners being Penrath Dispatcher and Envoy of the Fallen. Both of these cards are tricolor creatures priced to move at 4 mana, and both of them provide a combination of value and finishing power that's hard to match. After valiant matches between Penrath Dispatcher, Envoy of the Fallen, and two format mainstays in Golgari Midrange and Rakdos Reanimator, the two Envoy of the Fallen players remained for the final showdown.
There's no greater testament to the power of Envoy of the Fallen than the fact that Lih's and Dr Chipmunk's decklists share no other nonland cards besides some colorless hate pieces in the sideboard. Chipmunk's deck is focused around a combo kill with Karina's Substitute where two copies can repeatedly revive and sacrifice each other to instantly drain the opponent out. Lih's deck forgoes an explicit combo kill plan, but an Envoy reviving a Smiling Sludge and a Treasure-generating creature can still easily spiral into 10+ damage. Ultimately Lih's synergy-heavy take on the deck would pull out the win over the course of 3 razor-thin games. Congratulations to Lih, commiserations to Chipmunk, and remember, the best time to join the Revolution is now!
