The 2nd Revolution World Championship

As Announced by the Revolution Curator Team

The Revolution team are excited to announce that, on April 2nd, the second Revolution World Championship will begin!

Featuring winners from 12 Grands Prix, 3 seasonal League play scoreboard leaders, and returning champion DrakeXIV, this 16-person double elimination tournament will determine who wins the top prize: a chance to work with the Curators to design a brand new custom Invitational card that will be added to the Revolution format.

Our competitors so far are:

AllWhoWander, DrakeXIV, DrChillbrain, Dr Platypeople, Fazzer, HerziQuerzi, HSquid, Kilgaris, Matt, Philippe Saner, PTM, PurpleMurasaki, Tetra, ThatDamnPipsqueak, and Zangy!

But there's ONE MORE SLOT AVAILABLE: The winner of Grand Prix Winterholm is the final competitor who will be invited to the World Championship. GP Winterholm begins Thursday, March 9th, 7 PM PST, and decklists are now open for submission!

But that isn't all!

Revolution World Championship: Fantasy

This year, even if you are not competing in the main event, you can still take part in the action! This year's World Championship will have a fantasy component, with a truly fabulous prize: a chance to add your own card to Revolution. Any Custom Magic user can participate.

The rules: Of the 16 World Championship competitors, pick which one you think will win. Simple! Signups will be available when decklists are posted.

The prize: Each participant who successfully guesses the World Championship winner will receive an entry ticket to a very special card design contest! Submit your design for one card to be added to Revolution. Curators will vote on submissions, and the contest's winner will have their card added to Revolution.

The Empire Strikes Back at GP Umberdeep

Revolution, February, 2022 –

The second tournament of Revolution’s sixth rotation concluded this past month. After a series of balance changes shook up the meta, players were eager to try out their new decks at Grand Prix Umberdeep. 18 players registered decks across 14 different archetypes, with favorite archetypes including last month’s GP-winning WR rebel aggro deck (starring Unburnt Maiden and Symbol of the Revolution), RB indulgence control (utilizing Grisly Musketeer and Feast of Crows to create a lock), and a league-winning GB ramp/midrange (featuring Vibrant Vengeance). In the end, PurpleMurasaki’s “new hotness”, a RB aggro deck helmed by Alehana the Persuader, faced off against ndb’s tried-and-tested GB Vibrant Vengeance rock deck.

After three close games, PurpleMurasaki emerged victorious, securing a coveted spot in the upcoming Revolution World Championship. When reflecting on their deck, PurpleMurasaki felt that Alehana the Persuader was the most valuable card and served as an inspiration for building the deck. A rare 4-of legendary creature in a 60-card format, Alehana provided a consistent source of damage throughout the game, and the 1/3 body served as an effective blocker against a sea of 2-power creatures.

How will the meta adapt to PurpleMurasaki’s tournament-winning deck? What balance changes will come to the format next month? And who will win the coveted last spot in Revolution’s Second Annual World Championship? The only way to find out is to join the revolution — there’s never been a better time to get involved!
