In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 

ma kal-ma. lum it-ul. me-mi ki-lak um.

The earth was without form and empty; darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God moved over the waters. 

me-mi ta-it mil. it li.

God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 

me-mi lik li, ila. me-mi kat li le lum.

God saw the light, and it was good. God separated the light from the darkness. 

me-mi lilo mil limo, le lilo lum kal-limo.

God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night.

me-mi ta-kat um. me-mi lik um kat. 

God said, "Let there be a separation between the waters." 

me-mi ka ta-kat um. me-mi kat-um. 

God made the separation and divided the waters. 

me-mi lilo kat-um me-mi-ma.

God called the separation Heaven. 

me-mi ta-um ul me-mi-ma. kal-um ma it. 

God said, "Let the waters under heaven gather together, and let dry land appear." 

me-mi lilo kal-um ma. me-mi lilo al um ilo-um. me-mi lik ila.

God called the dry land Earth, and the gathered waters He called Seas. God saw that it was good.
