'Active Art refers to a type of interactive or participatory artwork that involves the audience in the creative process of experience. Unlike traditional art, where the viewer is a passive observer, active art requires the audience to engage with the work in some way, whether through physical interaction, decision-making, or contribution.'
Personally, I like the idea of active art because it makes the overall idea of art much more than just drawings and images on screens. It makes the art interactive and the audience has a deeper connection to the piece(s) and their message.
AI art has become more popular over the years as computers have gotten more advanced. This lecture opened my eyes ot just how widely AI is used in everyday activities, not just art. But the aspect of using AI in art is a controversial one, I don't see a problem with AI 'assisted' artwork, where AI is used for finishing touches and small tweaks. But full AI artwork stems from stealing and copying other peoples existing artwork so there is no skill or personal touches to the pieces.

Art for wellbeing includes the use of art for therapy and self realisation. Many people turn to this method as a form of escapism by expressing themselves through their art in a way they cannot through words. There are many forms of wellbeing art such as: Person Centered, Psychodynamic and CBT.
Person centered art therapy is as it implies, it is centered around one subject and focused on their needs. The sessions usually try to help build ones self confidence and focus on the subjects struggles and the therapists do not judge whatever happens in those sessions,
Psychodynamic wellbeing art is the focus on the unconsious mind, and how much of the mind is locked behind it. Sigmund Freud was the founder of this theory and it has been popularised since.
CBT is the study of the rational and irrational thought patterns. Albert Ellis believed that studying this might help people better understand themselves and control their thought processes, this method uses the ABCDE structure. A-Activating event, B-Belief, C-Consequences, D-Disputing, E-Effective Belief.
I think the study of art to help wellbeing is a good thing and it should be used as often as possible, helping others with their physical and mental issues through art can also help keep the mind creative throughout any stage of their life.

A lot of art in our day and age lets people explore and express their identity in any and every way possible. There is a subgenre of art that fully lets people explore their gender and their identity through their art. This can come in many forms ranging from photos in different clothing to abstract art pieces based on religious beliefs etc.
I think this style of art is important to our society as the themes of gender and identity can be touchy subjects for some but seeing these pieces of art may bring some others confidence to express themselves how they want without fear of being judged.

There are many steps in going towards selling your art and making yourself sustainable.
Building a brand is one of these steps. You need to understand yourself and be able to know what you are going to sell or what services you can provide. You also need to focus and keep your editing precise to make your work stand out. Building your network is always a must, being able to reach out to others and communicate about your work is crucial. Practice also makes perfect, talking about your work to anyone who will listen and taking any opportunity to exhibit your work will always help you.
If you plan to sell your work there are many factors that you have to think about before pricing and sending your work out to sell. Materials, time, format, size are all factors that you need to think about before pricing your work to be appropriate for the effort you put in.

We decided to take a trip to the into film festival as part of our 'Christmas Wellbeing Cinema' mini project. We used this chance to learn more about animation and films about wellbeing or emotions. Watching the film 'IF' was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed the film, learning its hidden message helped me develop my theme for my own animation. If I was given the chance to do this again I definitely would.
We were lucky enough to be invited out to learn about Lizzie Rowe, an artist from the North East who's heart gripping story was told through her art and images. I thoroughly enjoyed this exhibition, learning about Lizzie's story and the thoughts behind her work. It was a valuable experience and it may influence my work in the future.
We got offered to run an exhibition at the Sheepfold's stable based around Sunderland. Following the riots that happened prior this year and all of the damages, the theme of focus was creators in Sunderland and how our community can help repair this city. We were tasked with making 6 boards with 'Threads' of art spread across them. Everyone across the art department made at least 1 and we pieced them all together to make an exceptional display of art that had its own room to show off.
I took photos Sunderland city center using a 3d camera and a tripod, I went around and took photos of landmarks that I thought caught my eye the most when I think of what Sunderland can bring. I then tok those images and simply edited them to add some contrast while still keeping the integrity of the original image. These images were displayed on a table in the exhibition alongside some more of my classmates work.
