Curtis (Curt) Marcellin.
Son of legendary bandleader Mano Marcellin, this self-taught Musician has been performing professionally since 1978, while still a sixth form student at Fatima College, after being drafted into his dad’s band due to the unavailability of the band’s keyboardist.
He took the opportunity and never looked back. On graduation from College he had to make a decision ..... Football (at which he was a formidable player) or music. Curt chose the latter.
By the mid-eighties in addition to performing with Mano he formed his own garage bands, firstly Champagne, and then Afsak, playing the disco circuit ( JB’s and Atlantis ) as well as the Hotel circuit ( Hilton , Bel-Air, Normandie, Chaconia). In that era he dominated that circuit along with his friends the Baptiste family with their band The Majors.
He also has several recordings from that period producing and showcasing young artistes like Kurt Allen, Ian Ashman, Roger George, Marilyn Hunte, Karen Hernandez, Curtis Jackson and Simonese Wilson to name a few.
Curt also produced and arranged musical accompaniment for the WASA staff calypso competition annually and was an instrumental part of that function and its after party which graduated into what became known as WASA FETE nationally.
In 2001 he launched Island Vibe, a Soca aggregate which toured extensively throughout the Caribbean and North America. Island Vibe showcased the likes of Burton Toney, Kyncky Cordner, Spongy, Star George, Anna Assing, Stephen Marcelle, Ronnie Mc Intosh, Choko and Snakey & Stacey Sobers.
Island Vibe supplied road music for Barbarossa, Home Team and Masquerade.
His brother Burt now leads Brass 2 the World. His elder brother Dave (deceased) made a valuable contribution to the local Jazz circuit as well as nurtured many young Jazz musicians while at UTT as an Artiste in Residence.
Today, Curt, Musician, Producer and qualified Recording Engineer, runs Marcellins Music Studio, producing not only his music but offering services to a wider clientele and advises and assists younger musicians on the business of music.
In 2018 he released his first solo album “NO MUSIC, NO LOVE”.
His second album “REUNITED”, was released in June 2019, and is dedicated to his Mom, Dad and brother Dave, all dearly departed.
Curt now plays six days a week, Monday to Saturday, for morning Mass at The Abbey at Mt. St. Benedict.
Additionally he is a Project Team Member of the Eternal Light Vocational School at Sea Lots. He has the responsibility to setup and manage the Recording Studio at the facility. An intervention to equip the Sea Lots Community with competencies to survive, grow and be part of the human resource bank of the nation.
More recently (2022) Curt has produced Music from The Mount - a series of compositions of Service Music for the Roman Catholic Mass. Composing the following pieces together with Alfred Chow (Panist):
Lord have Mercy, Alleluia, The Gloria, Gospel Acclamation, Hossana, Eucharistic Acclamations (When we eat this Bread, We Proclaim, Save us Saviour), Amen, Our Father, Lamb of God.

In mid-2022 he has also produced an inspirational single Here I am Lord. This track features his long time friends vocalist Anna Assing and guitarist Michael Chang Wai.
Unbelievably with all that he's doing he is also currently producing a thirteen part series on mentorship - MENTORING MONDAY. This production seeks to showcase the benefits of mentorship through the life experiences of Mentors ( local and regional) and their Mentees. Hosted by Dr. Jennifer Jones-Morales, he is looking forward to the release of this production in 2023.
Over the last few years our Presenter, Dr. Jennifer Jones-Morales, has interviewed over 102 authentic leaders, throughout The Caribbean, mainly Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Jamaica, and what she has found in her research is the integral role that Mentors have played in the life of these authentic leaders as they are on ascendance to authentic leadership development.
Also showcased in this 13-Part Series, is the roles played by these authentic leaders in impacting the lives of their Mentees.
