Annie finds the sunshine in every situation and every day! Because of her optimistic view of life, she inspires those around her to be kind and optimistic, too! Here are some simple ways for you to practice finding the joy in your classroom everyday!
Activity 1: Keep A Thankful Class Chart
Every day, have each student share one thing they are thankful for that day. Watch you chart fill up!
Change the "theme" everyday. Ideas include:
something I can smell
something I can hear
a person
a place
a food
a memory
a pet
Activity 2: Morning Mindset
Co-create some morning mindset phrases that you read every morning as a class.
Start by asking your class what kinds of things they think are important for getting themselves prepared for school. You might also ask what kinds of things students would want to hear when they have a bad morning.
Allow students to create phrases that will help them get their mind in the right place each morning.
Display them proudly in the classroom.
Pick a morning mindset leader to read them aloud every morning.
Activity 3: Ending the Day on Good Things
Before you leave class/school each day, have students share 3 good things aloud. When they walk out the door, they will smile because they end every day celebrating the little joys and victories with their friends.
