Welcome to CultureStack. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. Unlike many apps today, CultureStack is designed to be completely private and local-only. We do not collect, transmit, or share your data with anyone.
Our Key Commitment: Your plant tissue culture data belongs to you and stays on your device. Period.
We collect NONE of the following:
Names or email addresses
Phone numbers
Account credentials
Location data
Demographic information
Why? CultureStack requires no account, registration, or sign-in. You can use all features immediately without providing any personal information.
CultureStack stores the following information locally on your device to help you manage your plant tissue cultures:
Culture Records: Species names, explant types, initiation dates, medium composition
Observation Data: Growth stages, contamination status, survival rates, measurements
Photos: Images you take of your cultures for documentation purposes
Recipes: Custom medium formulations and ingredient lists
Reminders: Transfer schedules and monitoring alerts
Timeline Events: Historical tracking of your tissue culture activities
Important: This data is stored in a SQLite database on your device. It is never transmitted to any server.
We do not collect device identifiers, serial numbers, or unique device IDs. The app only uses the basic operating system identifier (Android/iOS) to display the correct UI.
We collect ZERO usage analytics. This means:
No tracking of how you use the app
No recording of which features you use
No measurement of time spent in the app
No behavioral profiling
No telemetry or crash reporting
Your information is used exclusively for:
Core App Functionality: Managing your plant tissue cultures, tracking observations, and scheduling transfers
Local Notifications: Sending you reminders about culture transfers (stored and processed locally on your device)
Data Export: Allowing you to export your data to CSV or PDF format (saved to your device's local storage)
What we DON'T do with your data:

CultureStack uses ZERO third-party services.
This means:
No Google Analytics or any analytics platforms
No Firebase services (authentication, database, storage, messaging)
No Facebook SDK or social media integration
No advertising networks or ad mediation platforms
No crash reporting services (Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
No cloud storage providers (Google Drive, Dropbox, AWS, etc.)
Your data never leaves your device. No third party has access to your CultureStack data.
All your data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This includes:
Your culture records
Your observations
Your photos
Your recipes
Your reminders
There is NO data transmission. CultureStack works 100% offline. Your data never travels over the internet to any server, cloud service, or external API.
Since your data never leaves your device, security is straightforward:
Data is stored locally using the Android SQLite database system
Only the CultureStack app can access this data
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (lock screen, encryption, etc.)
Your data remains on your device until you choose to delete it. There is no automatic data collection, syncing, or backup to cloud services.
You have complete control over your data:
You can export all your CultureStack data at any time:
Go to Settings → Export Data
Choose CSV or PDF format
The file is saved to your device's local storage
You can copy, share, or backup this file however you choose
You can delete your data in several ways:
Individual Records: Delete any culture, observation, or photo directly from the app
All Data: Go to Settings → Reset Data to clear all CultureStack data
App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the app removes all app data from your device
Since CultureStack has no accounts or sign-in, there's nothing to deactivate or close. Simply uninstall the app to remove all your data.
We do NOT share your data. Here's what that means:
We don't sell your data to advertisers or data brokers
We don't share your data with third-party companies
We don't transfer your data to cloud services
We don't use your data for research or analytics
No third party has access to your CultureStack data because:
We don't use third-party analytics or tracking services
We don't integrate with social media platforms
We don't use cloud storage or sync services
We don't use advertising networks
CultureStack requests the following permissions to function properly:
Purpose: Take photos of your tissue cultures What we use it for: Documenting culture growth and contamination Where photos are stored: Locally on your device only Is it required? No, you can use the app without taking photos
Purpose: Save photos and exported files What we use it for: Storing culture photos and CSV/PDF exports Where files are stored: In your device's local storage (app-specific directory) Is it required? Yes, for photo and export functionality
Purpose: Send you transfer reminders What we use it for: Local reminders about culture transfers (processed entirely on your device) Are notifications read or shared? No, they're generated and displayed locally only Is it required? No, you can use the app without notifications
Status: This permission is declared in the app manifest but IS NOT USED by the app. Reason for declaration: May be required by app libraries or for potential future features Current usage: None - the app works 100% offline
CultureStack is suitable for users of all ages. We do not collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age. Since the app requires no registration and collects no personal data, it is inherently safe for minors to use.
Specifically:
We don't collect names, emails, or contact information
We don't have user accounts or profiles
We don't track user behavior or location
We don't enable communication between users
We don't integrate with social media
There are NO international data transfers.
Since all your data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to any server, there are no cross-border data transfers. Your data stays in your country, on your device.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
Highlight significant changes in the document
How you'll be notified:
In-app notification when you launch CultureStack after a policy update
Updated policy will be available in the app's Settings menu
Your continued use of CultureStack after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
