Joy Rivera, LPMT, MT-BC
Board Certified Music Therapist 

Joy Rivera is a Licensed Professional Board Certified Music Therapist out of Amherst, Ohio. Joy graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Music and completed her Music Therapy Program through the Cleveland Music Therapy Consortium.

Joy currently has music therapy contracts with Mercy Hospital in Lorain, Ohio; L.I.F.E. - A Dementia Friendly Foundation servicing Lorain Counties; and the Amherst Public Library. Joy has worked in with many populations throughout the stages of life, ranging from preschool aged children to adults living with dementia or other neurological diagnoses, to patients near end-of-life on hospice services. 

​In addition to her music therapy, Joy has been a lifelong music minister in the Catholic Church. Joy was the former music director at St. Francis Xavier Cabrini in South Lorain for 9 years, before returning to her home Parish, St. Joseph in Amherst as the Assistant Music Director and the Wedding & Funeral Liturgy Coordinator in February 2022.  

Joy has lived in Amherst the majority of her life and still does with her husband and two young children. When not doing music, she can be found tending her flowers in the garden, making and decorating treats in the kitchen or simply spending time with her family!
