Getting ready for an internship program or a first job application?
Getting ready for an internship program or a first job application?
The Department of Research at Chulalongkorn University Language Institute developed this project to provide equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. This project is funded by the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.
The objectives of the project are:
1. To help undergraduate students or college students prepare a well-constructed resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile
2. To provide learners with an opportunity to learn extra skills outside the classroom and at their own pace
The content will cover three useful topics—writing a resume, preparing a cover letter,
and developing a LinkedIn profile. First, a resume is a concise document listing one's contact information, a summary of qualifications, education, experience, skills, achievements, and references over a page or two. A cover letter is a document that an internship applicant or a first jobber usually submits along with a resume to provide brief and extra information on relevant skills and experience (Mayer, 2011). Lastly, LinkedIn is a professional networking website that creates opportunities for students, graduates, and professionals to connect online. A LinkedIn profile communicates the user's personality, beliefs, and interests to other users. A LinkedIn profile is a way of getting noticed by prospective employers nowadays. With these documents in hand, we believe learners can be successful candidates and pass the first steps of the job screening process. All content comes in micro-learning video tutorial clips with immediate-feedback exercises.
