Fall Program Wrap-up Reminders
Den Leaders (Niki if you can help Lions) we will need to know which adventures each Den has achieved. All adventures/advancement is recorded online with National Scouting America. Also, we need just a little time to organized and purchase. All Fall awards will be presented at scout meeting on December 11th. Whenever awards are presented all scouts should be in uniform – Lions this would be your Pack T-shirt for this year.
All Sub orders and money is due this week. Checks can be made out to Pack 154. Having 1 check is also okay depending on how you collected money. We handle any combination of checks and cash turned in. Sub orders are here on December 11th for pickup. I would expect the truck to be here prior to meeting, however exact times are not provided to us. The time will definitely be between 4-6 PM.
Dues and Membership Fees – We have a few Dues ($35/scout) payments that need to be made. Please have those prepared for either this week or next. All scout members have a $35 due amount to the Pack each year. Also, when each scout and/or adult registration due, an email will be sent by national scouting America to you for renewal. As a pack we have elected to cut ourselves out of the process as no volunteer will ever want to attempt to keep track of a 12 month renewal process. Once your membership as lapse over 2 months after the due date, the registration is dropped. This will cause all kinds of headaches in the system. Please make sure you registration (assuming continuation in the program) is done within that 90-120 day window.
Historic Christmas Service – over the years I have had quite a few parents ask about the “old church” which is on the national historic listings. The church was built in 1815 and has all the classic 19th century architecture pieces that can be found in similar structures protected throughout our nation. Last year, our own Pastor Kevin and the church community outreach committee hosted its first (in a long while) Christmas service. The service was extremely well attended. If this is something your family would like to attend or experience, Sunday, December 14th starting at 5:30PM will be our Christmas service. Remember the church is from the 19th century so there is no heat, electricity, or plumbing in the building!!! Battery lights will be provided for the service. Afterwards, in the fellowship hall there will be cookie and hot chocolate treats. Just as a “heads up” we are expecting a very full house as a lot of folks in the area truly appreciated the experience last year.
Christmas Card Service Project - As a cub pack we do 4 service projects during the year. The first was the leaf cleanup for the church. The 2nd is our Christmas card project. The 3rd will be a food drive for the Leesport food bank and last our Memorial Service in May. These services projects are designed to bring attention to our charter partner, national needs of support, local support, and remembering our veterans. Providing service is a big part of the scouting movement and is a part of the program all the way through to becoming an Eagle scout one day hopefully. At the pack level we have chosen these projects to provide exposure to the different kinds of service that can be done by scouts as they age through the program. This project is about creating a thoughtful message to children who are hospitalize permanently. A little reminder that they are not forgotten goes a long way. This program is also supported by Thrivent Financial Group who provides us with funds to carry these types of programs. Making a difference matters and we hope everyone is onboard for a little holiday fun to bring this project to life on December 11th scout meeting.
