Throughout the semester, we take time to clean up Cornell's campus by removing trash. We are also partnered with Cornell Botanic Gardens through the Adopt-a-Gorge-Program, helping to keep the gorges looking gorge-ous.
During the winter months, we switch to advocacy focused tasks, where we spread awareness across the country and across our campus. Our work consists of writing letters to government officials on topics voted by the club and regarding environmental conservation, hosting guest speakers, creating presentation opportunities for members in the club, and focusing on promoting on campus awareness through earth day events.
SNRC runs Cornell's campus wide Terracycle recycling system, a program that helps turn typically "non-recyclable" materials into new and useful resources. We collect, sort, and manage this entire process on campus! With the help of distributed recycling from organizations like us, Terracycle has diverted millions of pounds of valuable resources from landfills across the globe. You can find Terracycle bins in most residential buildings across campus! We invite you to utilize these bins to dispose of these traditionally "non-recyclable" items, including coffee capsules, shaving handles, pens, plastic gloves, makeup tubes, and more.
If you want to get out in the field, get your hands dirty, and see a meaningful act being made, then you have come to the right place. LEAF focuses on hands-on-work to protect the environment such as tree planting, aiding in the spring salamander road crossing, and invasive species tracking.
