AISD Dyslexia Initiatives

Comprehensive Dyslexia/Dysgraphia Evaluation:

Campus Licensed Specialists in School Psychology and/or Educational Diagnosticians evaluate students with dyslexia referred through the 504 or ARD process.

CALT Initiative:

Austin ISD employs over sixty certified academic language therapists or therapists-in-training who provide intensive, small group intervention.

Dyslexia Middle School Project (DMSP):

The DMSP provides evidence-based intervention to middle school students identified with dyslexia. A Certified Academic Language Therapist provides direct service, consultation, and teacher and student support. This program is currently at Covington MS Fine Arts Academy.

Professional Development:

AISD provides ongoing professional development to classroom teachers, reading interventionists, instructional coaches, and professional staff.
