CTU (with UP Diliman, AdDU (PH Lead U), U of Strathclyde (UK Lead U), and Cardiff U) is Newton Fund Grant Awardee for 2019 CALL FOR INSTITUTIONAL LINKS GRANT

In June 2019, the British Council strengthened its partnership with the Department of Science and Technology by launching new science and innovation research opportunities through the Newton Agham Programme.
The following Newton Agham Programme grants were offered to leading and established Filipino researchers to partner with scientists and institutions in the UK and propose projects that support the economic development and social welfare of the Philippines: PhD Scholarships, Researcher Links Workshops, and Institutional Links grants.
Panel reviews and deliberation were completed by December of 2019, and on 26 February 2020, the British Council and the Department of Science and Technology will present the ten (10) awardees in a press conference and ceremonial signing of grant agreements.
Six (6) individuals will receive PhD Scholarships, three (3) for Research Workshops grant, and one (1) Institutional Links grant.
Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) is the Philippine Lead Institution with Cebu Technological University (CTU) and University of the Philippines - Diliman (UPD) as the PH Partner Institutions, and with University of Strathclyde (UC) as the UK Lead Institution with Cardiff University (CU) as the UK Partner University to conduct the project entitled "Utilising Marine Renewable Energy to Satisfy Community Energy Demands and Stimulate Socio-Economic Development within the Philippines" using the Mindanao context as the case and the Hinatuan Passage in Surigao as the local site.
The project commences in April 2020 and will run for two years.
