About CT Middle School Counseling Program

Conemaugh Township is a great school, but some of our students will still face challenges while here. My job is to help the students with those challenges in whatever ways I can.  I will spend my year building relationships with all students (staff, families, and community members, too!) in the classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, lunch– wherever and whenever I can.  My goal is to help all students feel a sense of belonging in a safe, student-centered environment.

Below are some of the services I provide at CT to help support students, staff, and families:

Botvin Lessons

Botvin LifeSkills is an evidence-based substance abuse and violence prevention program. At Conemaugh Township, students receive the Botvin LifeSkills curriculum at the middle school level (grades 6-8). It is part of the rotation of specials for students in 6th grade and delivered throughout the year in grades 7 and 8.

Small Group Counseling

Small group counseling can be offered to students who may benefit from spending extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills with a small group of peers.

Individual Services

Students may be referred for short-term individual counseling services by staff, parents, or though a self-referral, as deemed necessary, when facing an academic, career, or social/emotional challenge.  Confidentiality is respected.

Career Planning

School counselors coordinate ongoing developmentally appropriate activities designed to assist students in establishing personal goals and developing future plans.

Support Services

Support services are available to students, parents, and school staff. These may include:

Confidentiality

What is said in my office remains confidential, unless a student is hurting himself/ herself, is planning to hurt someone else, is being hurt by someone, or we believe it is in the best interest of the student to inform someone.
