In 2024, A group of community organizers in Hartford, CT recognized a lack of third spaces for LGBTQ+ folks in their city. To address this, they created a community needs assessment. The assessment confirmed what they believed: there were few spaces for queer folks in the Hartford area to meet and socialize comfortably. Based on the survey results, he Hartford LGBTQ+ community felt that more free, sober, inclusive spaces were needed. This is why Queer Third Space began.
Queer Third Space is for everyone. Anyone can create a third space, and there is no official "leadership." Participants can invest whatever time and resources they are able. The organizers of the group are volunteers, and anyone is welcome to help organize.
