The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership at Colorado State University Pueblo is a leader in teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education. We are an integral part of CSU Pueblo student success and are leaders in:

Denise Henry, MAEd

Director, Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership

With over two decades of experience in K-16 education, I've had the privilege of serving as a classroom teacher, school district math coordinator, county office of education technology director, and global games-based learning software teacher trainer. Since 2000, I've dedicated my time to supporting underserved K-16 students and their families through innovative academic and community programs. At CSU Pueblo, I design, facilitate, and support innovative teaching, learning, and assessment methods.

Emily Mulvihill, Ed.D.

Assistant Professor
Principal Licensure

Emily has worked in the field of education since 2007 and has taught all levels of students at the K-12 and higher education level. She currently works as an Assistant Professor in the School of Education, running the educational leadership graduate licensure program. Emily began her career as a K-5 elementary school teacher before transitioning to teaching middle and high school English. She has also developed curriculum, presented at national conferences and is certified in elementary education, as a middle and high school English teacher, gifted teacher, special education teacher, AP English teacher, early childhood preschool director and school principal.

Following her classroom career, Emily served as a national professional development training specialist, consulting and advising teachers, and then as an assistant principal and school principal. Emily has experience in traditional brick and mortar schools, blended schools and online/digital schools. She holds a Bachelor's degree in psychology and education, two Master's degrees, one in learning and technology and another in educational leadership, and holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.

Christi Sperber

Science Learning Center (SLC) Coordinator
MAPS Outreach Specialist
Adjunct Chemistry Lecturer

With a masterful ability to translate theory into practice, Christi develops highly effective teaching and learning methods. She is committed to creating a sense of belonging for all learners and relationship-rich learning environments.

Christi uses research-informed, barrier-reducing teaching strategies to enhance engagement, belonging, and academic success for her students.

She actively explores the use of AI to create learning resources in her classes. Her innovative work with notetaking guides transforms lecture-based classes into an active learning space. Her Blackboard course shells shre materials that engage the wide range of learners in her classrooms. Christi also facilitates lessons that teach students how to learn, an essential skill for college students at any level.
